Default Support for CAL Pilots

I continue to read ALPA requests for support of CAL pilots. Why is there a plea to support scabs who stabbed fellow APLA members in the back? I don't care if it was over 20 years ago. Either your ALPA pin ( & dues ) means something or it is merely a decoration & waste of your time & money. I'm tired of our senior leadership pleading with us to support an organization that turned on loyal supporters. Perhaps our leaders at ALPA National can explain why we should sell our soul as rank & file to support that which has been built upon by loyal dues paying members & enjoyed by scabs. I don't buy the story that "that happened before I arrived on the property". You know what you are buying into when you are hired or cross the line. ALPA continues to lose credibility with the line pilot when it insists we forget the past & go along with what they say is best for us all. Try raising a family on such pervrese logic. ALPA's credibility continues to crumble in the USA. See who is leaving, see who is joining, see who is rock solid in remaining in ALPA & you will see that the very fiber that truly makes up a real union is missing in ALPA.................

How many of our 5100 pilots are scabs? What about all the scabs at other ALPA carriers? How many are at United? What about the hundreds hired at other airlines? They are everywhere. Don't get me wrong, ALPA blew it when it "forgave" scabs and welcomed them (their money) back into ALPA. What thing can/should be done? How can you get rid of them now? I'd love to see them all lose their jobs, but I don't see how this can be done. I'm sure many of the over 60 guys are probably scabs too (the strike was 25 years ago).

So you don't want to support any airline that has one or more scabs on property? If one ALPA airline doesn't get a good contract, how does that affect other ALPA airlines? If CAL gets an industry leading contract, other ALPA airlines can follow. See a reason to support ALPA airlines? We are supposed to be "one" union. The whole scab thing sucks, but what can be done now? One of the reasons I upgraded is to avoid scabs. There are many threads already on the scab issue. What new thing can be said on this one?

I do agree with your ALPA views, but I don't have an answer to the problem.

1,996. 39% of the Pilots, or 65% of the Captains (roughly).

2200 scabs crossed starting in 1983 and 2000 scabs are still left? I don't know how many are left. Checking the seniority list with the scab list is a big job. I can't believe only 200 have left in the last 25 years. More than that have retired. I've heard scab numbers from 300 to 500. I've never heard 2000 still on property. Where did you get your data? Curious.

Where do you work? So I got hired here two years ago, and I'm just as bad as a scab? I'll tell you right now after working here two years, that I'll be damned if I would ever cross the line. No job is worth it. There are about 600 scabs at CAL and I look forward to every retirement.

Pleasse don't support us. Good luck at your airline. Either at United were unfortunetly things aren't looking to good or NWA where you are getting screwed by the Delta guys or at Delta where it will be a long process intergrating that seniority list with two work groups that don't like each other. That is if you even work for any of those companies.

You can hate CAL that is fine, but I'm sure that which ever airline you work for they have their problems too.

Maybe someone like you doesn't belong in a union. The ratio of scabs to non-scabs at CAL is small and getting much smaller and for you to base your support of fellow union members on a minority issue is ludicrous and childish. It's thinking like yours that weakens ALPA's power. We are at a point in this industry where ALL pilots need to take a unified stand against management to redeem the benefits we gave up to keep the companies alive and CEO pocketbooks fat. I only hope you are in the minority with your lack of support for your fellow pilots.

Thread starter. Don't you have anything else to talk about?? Half of topics these days turn into union fights, now you start a thread like this? Can't think of a better topic to start a fight....

Let's stop responding to flame bait NOW. We hope the scabs all quit tommorrow. Thanks for your insight. Have a nice day.
