So there is hope then? Seems like you guys loved the video and for some it brought back the dream. I don't want to be negative myself, but I get a sense that a lot of the pilots on this forum constantly bash the industry and their companies, it seems that some of the pilots here would rather be flippin burgers than flying a $50m airliner. I'm really encouraged to see that there really are pilots who like their job. I was honestly beginning to think that every pilot hated their job and regretted becoming a pilot. Great video, can't wait to get paid to fly. I'm waiting for the "shut up, you're green I've been flying 55 years and it sucks and I hate my job it's terrible" posts.

It still is a fun job, although I'm at the point (19 years) where the layover is the fun part. The flying, while not unpleasant, is mostly what you need to do to get to the layover. When I get that call at the hotel to tell me that my outbound flight is cancelled, and that I'm to stay in San Diego for another day, I'm not heartbroken.

Boredom
Anything gets old after a while. I don't think anyone really hates flying as much as what it does to your life. As mentioned before if you were single and had few financial requirements then an airline life would be a blast. When you are married and have a family and your kid is crying because you couldn't be there for his birthday and your wife is asking you where money for groceries is going to come from to make it till next payday it looses some of its sparkle. The good news is that if you stick with it long enough the wife and kids go away and you could enjoy your solo traveling life till retirement.

So maybe....
Piloting perhaps should be left for those who see no need in a family, are willing to eat baked beans, and who are perpetual optimists then right? On the serious side. SH what did you enjoy about flying? I remember when I took my first flight in a 152. The first time I did a wingover. Buzzing my college campus. ( Above 500') I realize professional piloting is in the Sh**ter right now. But do you think it will change for the better? It does seem to swing back and forth. Right now I am based at ROR I help parttime at a 135 operation flying to outer islands in a twin islander. So if I wanted to just stay in this type of flying do you think it's such a horrible life then? Living in the islands........flying.......
