The 777 accounts for 5% of the CAL fleet which means you have to be in the top 5% of all captains to make a 777 captain. Well, maybe it is slightly easier as some of the top captains may prefer a better base and the 767 than the 777 and Newark for example, but the point is it is a very small percentage.
In this respect UAL is the best – 18% of their planes are 777s and 747s. That's a lot easier to get to.
Looking at all wide-bodies – they account for 12%, 22%, 24% and 26% of the total fleet for CAL, AMR, DAL and UAL, respectively. So you need to be in the top 12% of all CAL captains to fly a wide-body, while at the others you just need to be in the top quarter of all captains. I picked three random airlines that are similar in size to CAL for the purposes of this comparison.

Another thing to consider is that the 767 at CAL pays the exact same as the 777. The 767 falls into the wide body pay column just like the 777. So, while the 777 may only be five percent of the fleet, the top pay is not. If you're after the 777 it will take awhile. If you're after the pay it will come sooner on the 767.

I keep seeing on other sites where peolpe are having resumes walked in, walked in where? To KD or a CP? I thought everything is online now. I have several rec's but most are under a year at CAL, and no CA's, is that going to hurt me?

They are getting their resumes walked in to the chief pilot of their base. It doesn't matter if an FO or Capt. walks it in for you.
If you want to meet KD first hand, get off the couch and go to an AIR Inc. meeting. KD will show up their and you can talk to him first hand. Yeah, it costs some money, but you'd be surprised what it can do for you.
Look at it like this. I had my resumes out there and nobody would take notice. I went to an AIR inc. meeting and within 2 months I had 3 airline interviews. I got to actually pick what airline I wanted to work for, so it does work. Their website is www.jet-jobs.com. Enjoy.

Standard questions just to get an idea of who you are and where you have been. I am told no trick questions. There is a company in Dallas that provides the sim profile for under $500. It is done in an MD-80 and I am told once you complete the sim profile the sim check at CAL is a breeze. I will try to find the company and repost.
