Default March 7, 2006 Class

Here's the list of the latest new hires at Continental:

12 737 slots
4 756 slots

6 Express Jet
2 Corporate
1 Kalitta
1 Chautauqua
2 Independence Air
2 USAF
2 Mesa

They said that they classes will run each week through May. Then in June and July just one class each. The hiring will speed back up starting in August. Good luck to all.

I can't help but notice that CAL consistently hires a disproportionately large number of XJT folks relative to any other regional. Is there any rhyme or reason behind that or is it purely a coincidence?

xjt and cal had a flow through that was canceled after 9-11 when cal sold xjt. there were a couple hundred in the pool waiting for cal jobs. some of these folks got to interview for their job back and some of those were offered jobs over 3 years ago. that pool of xjt pilots will be dry shortly but I don't know when.

Thanks for the info. I suspected there might be some connection to the old flow through arrangement.

Default Flow through for XJT

Well, they told us that they have one more Express Jet guy coming through in class next Tuesday. After him, their contract with XJT is done. They won't be required to take anymore of them. So I hope that answers your question.

As for everyone in my class, all of them are real cool, so deduce from that what you want. You can't judge a person by who they work for, that fact is true!

Very important advise. Don’t go into training with any preconceived notions about any pilot group… or you will be labeled the prick or even worse “dumb ass”. After all, you know about the old saying about getting along with the other kids in the sandbox.

Default What about the 777

How long does it take to upgrade to the triple 7 @CAL? What kind of trips? What base would you go to?

I don't work there (yet), but my friend is an FO on the 777, been there 8-9 years, EWR. Last time we talked he was near upgrade. BUT, on the 737.
SO I assume a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time?

Should get to the right seat in EWR within a year. Houston somewhat longer maybe three or four. If you are talking about Capt upgrade to 777 I am guessing 80 or 100 years - maybe longer. Seriously, very senior. All overseas trips Hong Kong, Tokyo, Europe etc. EWR= junior base IAH= senior base
