Continental furlough question

Can someone tell me if over the past 10-15 years Continental has had to furlough pilots? If yes, how far back did the seniority go? When were all called back?

Would have been the late spring/early summer of 05. Thats when the flowbacks went back and off the street hiring resumed.

CAL has hired about 1400 pilots since the hiring resumed. Those hired in early-mid 2005 can/are holding/flying as 737 Captain.

94/95 as well. We downsized and sent Pilots to Express and the street.

Doors were almost shut but GE/Boeing bailed us out with a loan to make payroll sometime in January 1995.

After 9/11 all the furloughs flowed down to XJT. That does not exsist anymore and now there is no protection.

So how's this all going to sort out when we merge with UAL, hmm? I was hoping for at least some speculation on how ALPA would sort it out. I was reprimanded in the crew room the other day for suggesting merging seniority lists by D.O.H. God forbid we do what's fair. I'd assume the merger would be to reduce capacity, but no one is talking furloughs. Guess I'll just keep reading the papers.

If Continetal and UAL merges, there will be a long and protracted arguments and negotiations for merging the seniority list. No one will be happy except maybe the top 3%.
