I'd venture to say you wouldn't feel that way if you were hired at TWA in 1999, or if you have been at UsAir for 20+ years. That kind of mentality is not a reality we have to live with. Its greed that people chose to live with.

Start up carriers without heavy baggage is looking better and better these days. Sure there is an element of risk involved with a new carrier, but upgrade will come sooner than with current carriers.

You will never know until you retire. Look at the new hires at CAL 3 years ago. They can already hold captain. There is a 28 year old captain at CAL. Its all about timing and luck.
