When I interviewed a few weeks ago Mr Kraby was talking to some folks about a joint job fair with people from both CAL and either UAL or NWA. He mentioned CAL was upset that DAL was hiring their pilots or more likely that they were leaving for DAL. They wanted to highlight QOL and corporate culture differences between the companies to help candidates choose the right company the first time therefore saving them training $$. My United interview just got pushed back due to the Womean in Avaition conference the week of March 10th. They have a job fair that I hear is gouge to go to as many of the women in attendance are recreational pilots and are not looking for airline careers. Most dudes don't go because they think they cannot. A friend went last year and spoke with the Jet Blue & UPS mgr for thirty minutes each day. He was invited over to the JB campus the next day with a few other attendees, was given a tour, interviewed and hired.

I just heard that Delta will no longer be doing AirInc and will instead join with CAL, UAL, NWA, and possibly others and do their own job fairs. I believe the first one is going to be next month in Las Vegas and I don't think there will be any fee to attend. I'm sure the info will be posted here when it becomes official.

Here is some speculative information concerning the Job Fairs and the reasoning behind them. The recruiters/pilot selection boards at the repective majors are appauled at the cost to attend an AirInc. conference for the amount of "face time" available to interviewees with the airlines during the seminar. If you have ever been to one you know that the seminar starts at 8am and the airlines are not allowed to talk to attendees until 4pm. The primary reason for this is so the AirInc gurus can give you the great sales pitch for all their stuff all day long.
As I used to say I was going to AirInc for a $130.00 handshake.
So I think the big companies have decided to get together and offer the chance for guys/gals to meet and greet at a minimal cost. Besides, Don't you think it is moronic that we have to pay to shake hands with people who are looking for new employees. I always thought so.
Just my speculation as to why the Legacy Carriers are not attending Kit's little seminars any more.

I believe also it is so pilots can see the cultural differences at each airline and target the best fit for them. The carriers feel it will help stop flow from one major to another and ultimately save $$ on training. What carriers don't realize is that people will drop an app to all and take who hires first whether or not its their first choice. Then move again if necessary for pay/lifestyle choices. People are not going to wait a year to get a call from their preferred airline or put all their eggs in one basket.

JetBlue used to have the longest lines that AirInc had ever seen. They kicked him to the curb over a year ago because they found that alot of folks were there just to get any job. JetBlue wanted to do it's own job fairs that attracted people who wanted to work for them and not just any airline that would hire them.
