rescheduled the interview and moved it up to 21 FEB. anyone else going to be there that day? what are you guys concentrating on for study material? I'm a guard guy and the 1st from my squadron to get the call from Delta so there isn't a gouge book floating around readily available like there is for other carriers. I have the gouge from WFFF but there isn't anything for the new 2008 test.

A lot of guys on here helped me with ideas on what to study for my test prep, and I really appreciate it all. Thanks for the teamwork.

My thoughts? I studied the Delta study guide by filling in the blanks. I also went through my ATP, and studied a pilot math/technical interview book. I had to knock the rust off of a few brain cells, and it took some time, but it worked for me. The WFFF gouge is what it is. Gouge. Look at it, but come up with your own solutions.

Good luck all, and remember...no canned answers.

Hey gang,

The last two lines in the first paragraph of the DELTA Study Guide read,
"The questions test a candidate’s knowledge and understanding of principles and the application of these principles to commercial aircraft operation. Emphasis is on application and problem solving."
I would say this is the BEST rules for studying for the knowledge test - "Application of principles..." and "Application and Problem Solving"
In my experience, I felt the test was very much more "application" driven than "rote" regurgitation.
I did as FlyinRob and use the DELTA 7 page Study Guide to make my own - Here's my study/resource list -

FAA-H-8083-25 - Pilots Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge
US Navy - Fundamentals of Aerodynamics CNATRA P-202*
US Navy - Aircraft Engines and Systems CNATRA P-201
US Navy - Student Guide for Air Navigation CNATRA P-203
US Navy - Aviation Weather Student Guide CNATRA P-303
Mental Math for Pilots (& flash cards I made of the formulas)
Everything Explained for the Professional Pilot (Most of the Mental Math ROT Stuff is in this book too)
Gleim ATP Written (All EXCEPT the Flight Plan portions -727, B1900, etc)
AC-0045F - Aviation Weather Services
* I believe ANA would be more encompassing but this was just a bit "slimmer."
I didn't go over the AIM but I had some questions from it - however, I knew the answers from everyday flying so I didn't think there was any surprises there!?

As well, I would say I had less than 10 math questions total.
Talking with the guys at the end of the day, it seemed like we all had some widely varying tests. Some had more weather, some more math, some more systems. Overall, I prepped pretty thoroughly for the test and I felt pretty good going in (Heck, I was ready for Reynold's # questions - that thankfully, never appeared!) but I wish I could've been a bit "stronger" in performance application.
FWIW, I didn't "recognize ANY questions from the ATP wrtten, HOWEVER, I do feel the practice of answering the questions was a good confidence builder of the theory I was studying!?"

Also, as Rob said, no canned answers, be yourself...
Good luck!

Here's a link to the CNATRA pubs.

https://www.cnatra.navy.mil/pubs/ppu...r_sch_comm.htm

They're large files between 7 and 15 MB.

Thanks Dragon and here's some links to the FAA pubs -
Overall -
http://www.faa.gov/pilots/training/
Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge -
http://www.faa.gov/pilots/training/handbook/
Aviation Weather Services -
http://www.airweb.faa.gov/Regulatory...yCircular.nsf/

Maybe that will help too? I forked out the $ for the Everything Explained, Mental Math and ATP books.

Thanks for that link Dragon, I've been kicking myself for throwing those book out after I graduated Pensacola.

Are the weather questions chart based? In other words do they show you a chart and have you answer things from it or is it more theory and application to everyday flying?

I didn't have any charts on my test but that's not to say there weren't any (I did have some graphics - runway marking stuff) but not for weather. It really seemed scenario/application driven for most of the questions.

App. plate, runway markings, graphic based wx chart symbology are all fair game

Technical test was fairly easy. If you study the ATP test prep, and know the theory you are going to be just fine. I don't know what my score was, but I thought it was easy. The question difficulty was in line with what you would get on an FAA ATP knowledge test. You'll easily narrow the choice down to two. The following is what I studied:

Aerodynamics for Naval Aviators
Aviation Weather
AIM
Delta Study Guide (for things not covered by the above)

Like much of the advice on here, focus your studies on the panel interview, that is do or die.

I found the day very enjoyable, and successful, however, I got hung up by the shrink.

All the best during the day, and just be yourself.

Handy
