SWA Poolie Email list

Don't know.....I just remember someone telling me a pool letter was useless. I didn't really know why....till now. I thought SWA was somewhat different in that respect...guess not.
You in the pool? I hope NO ONE has too swim long. It is way too much stress.....if you are swimming I hope you currently have a somewhat good job!!!!

I would be interested to see what the demographics of the SWA pilots. Sure going to 65 will have an effect but only for 5 years, after that I believe that the train will continue to move as it has to date. Does anyone have details of number of pilots and their ages?

Alas,
it would appear that Herb's culture is just about gone. Within the last few months, SWA has given two months on the beach to a crew that didn't clear the cabin after a flight. In the old days (if I hear correctly) they would have done a short carpet dance and went on their way, never to err again. Now, SWA makes an example of them. Nice SWA, very nice.
Let the hostage taking begin.
BTW, did SWA hire Ford and Harrison to consult in negotiations?

The changes at SWA are not good. The assault on our culture continues to get worse and growth may end up being zero next year...you boys in the pool need to have a back up plan and keep your options open. If all your eggs are in this basket, then you need to reevaluate your game plan.

Heads up if you are in the SWA pool and at/applying to other carriers.
Latest "we still love you while you bob in our pool.." luv note had everyone's email on it. Niiiiiiiccceeeee. Then--just in case you missed it--they send another note saying "HEY--Sorry we PUT EVERYONE IN OUR POOL'S EMAIL OUT THERE IN THE POOL ORDER FOR EVERYONE TO SEE...."
So--I would expect (because not everyone in the world is your buddy) that within days the HR departments at JB, Delta, CAL, Airtran, Alaska, United, NWA, US Air, and Frontier will have their own copy.
Is that bad? Maybe. Did you recently get discouraged and throw out apps other places? Are you AT another company but told your interviewers you didn't even apply at SWA or weren't interested in going there? If so--you might expect some questions. If you are pushing your bros to get you an interview there, you can probably expect some pretty pointed questions about you when the email on your app/resume matches the list they will now have in their top drawer.
Nice touch SWA. Details matter. Your APAAD captains won their battle and now get to cruise a few more years. The guys who STILL want to be on your team just got another poke in the eye while they wait patiently for you.

No, not really. Age 60 changes will,however...
I just think its a bad situation for a handful of folks TRYING to ride out the wait for SWA and are at other places. (As for your question--if someone is hired then let go it doesn't hurt my business...but it does bother me.)
What peaked my interest were the calls/letters that went out two weeks ago or so that asked "are you currently flying somewhere?" Why does that matter? If you said "yes" or "no" would it change your pool position? Why does SWA want to know where you are working NOW...you are obviously patiently waiting so why does it matter?
That inquiry...followed by the CC instead of the blind CC just made me go "what is up?" Might have been nothing--probably the case. But like I said--if they are talking to folks at other airlines it seems the person they are discussing would want to know. If you are at a regional waiting its one thing--butif you just took a job at a corporate gig or even another major there might be some folks not thrilled about finding out about your pool status. If you are at the deep end of the pool, your current boss finds out and doesn't like it--it might be a long tough year while you wait. I had clients who were corporate who were FIRED when the JB background check calls came in. So--guys were sitting there waiting jobless for their start date. Not a big deal if the wait is 3-8 weeks...but a tough pill if the wait is 3-8 months.
SWA has been a good provider of clients for us. I don't have an axe to grind with anyone, and I know it is (for some) an awesome place to work. However,in this business--you do need to be careful when you discuss future employment options. Not every boss in the world stands up for someone leaving his firm... I've seen that before--and THAT was the reason I posted.

As for was it for PRIA? I have no idea. If they didn't ask everyone I have no idea why.
