I understand the SEA base is purely 330, correct? And how senior is that base now? 15 year?? Just a guy trying to move back to the west coast, one step at a time...
As new-hire, how do they assign a/c assignment? by DOB or SSN? What are the most latest class a/c assignment? If you have any specifics, please pm me. Thanks![/quote]
Yes, SEA is only a 330 base. Right now 12 years cannot touch it. Historically SEA has always been a very senior base at NWA. Give it time though, things can change.
Seniority is based on age. All we are seeing in new-hire classes are DC-9 positions. That being said, there is nothing keeping a new-hire from bidding the A320 or B757. My guess is the DC-9 department will not be able to handle all the new-hires and we will start to see some A320 and B747 S/O positions in 2008.

To those who work for NWA...

Ahhh, do you consider Anchorage to be the West Coast? That's probably your best bet in the near future. S/O out of there will probably happen pretty soon if you want it.

Bottom blockholder #3655 hired 10/96 (I was hired 2/97).
Bottom reserve #4939 hired 9/00.
There are 52 people preferencing ANC S/O blockholder. 42 of those have been displaced, so they have recall rights over everyone else (unless a Rope wants the postion, which approx 3/4 of the blockholders are). Bottom guy on the "pref up" list to bh is #4823 hired 2/00, reserv #4425 hired 11/98

Nothing against AK, but I am trying to steer clear of that peninsula at all cost. I'd rather freeze my behind in MSP than spend a winter in ANC.
I understand as new-hire you can bid away from the 9 as soon as you can hold it, and then it's a 4-year seat-lock (i.e. 320, 57), correct? How junior is the MSP 9 base? Do you think i can hold it right out of the schoolhouse? I am also trying to stay away from DTW...

If you bid off the DC-9 you will have a 2 year freeze. The 4 year freeze only applies to somewhat lateral moves or moves that don't make real economic sense ie DC-9 Capt to widebody F/O, A320 Capt or F/O to B757 Capt or F/O.

I think if you took a poll though, CAL would win, but only by a little. Since they were hiring pretty heavily, there is a slight chance that a minority of them would not fit into the 3G club.
NW, I don't know it thats the case.

I just had a NWA FA that scrapes the seatback of every single aisle she walked past!! And the worst part is, that was in the 320!!! Not the usual narrow Boeing aisle.
I'd agree CAL would have more "younger" FA, though i haven't JS on them for a while. CAl's FA always seem kinda cheery when we are in the crew van though.

I wouldn't count on it. The numbers below are from the Feb '09 postion awards. All are for ANC S/O postions.
Bottom blockholder #3655 hired 10/96 (I was hired 2/97).
Bottom reserve #4939 hired 9/00.

For the APA that just came out today there is no one (as in 0 people) on the pref up list for ANC s/o reserve. I think new hires will be going up there (on reserve).
