Yea, It gets better each year!
Yea, It just gets better each year!
Nov 2003, $142.57/hr, S/O 747, 7th year (my best year at NWA)
Dec 2003, $130.41/hr, F/O 320, 7th year
Dec 2004, $113.46/hr, F/O 320, 8th year
Nov 1, 2005, $116.97/hr, F/O 320, 9th year
Nov 16, 2005, $89.01/hr, F/O 320, 9th year
It's OK, because I will get a raise in January. I start my 10th year and will be up $91.00/hr. I know that this sounds like a lot of money to you RJ guys, but imagine losing 1/3 of your pay in a little over two years, this is after you have been in the industry for over 20 years already. Stuff like this can make a guy go Postal. Lucky, nobody has at my airline. Now that I got that off my chest, Good Luck to all that are enduring the hard times at the other carriers.

23.9% is correct.

Embatp,
Northwest has been crushed by numerous paycuts over 5 years and You state that their salaries after all this carnage is what AirTran pilots make today without any pay cuts!!! Therein lies the problem!!!!!!

What Problem?
What do you think these pay cuts are intended to imitate? The legacy carriers are trying to match the costs of the others. Every time a new low emerges then they will have to adjust down to match it. It is almost like the majors are unionizing against us.

Watch This,
I intended to say that the legacy carriers are trying to get their cost structures down to match the likes of Airtran and the like. I am sure that at the bankruptcy hearing they held up the pay rates at low cost competitors as an example. In a way it is like reverse unionization. The legacy carriers are banding together and working to lower costs in kind to match each others if they can.
In the past the pressure was to constantly push pay scales up at places like Airtran to match the stated "industry standard". Now the focus has reversed and it is management who is crying fowl and wants pay rates lowered to the new "industry standard". It should give the guys at Airtrain JetBlue and Frontier a bit of an ego boost. Now they don't have to lament over missing their chance at one of the big legacy carriers since now there are no advantages to working there anymore.
