UAL new-hire profile

I know you'll paint this as sour grapes, but do an honest self assesement.
No A Fund
No Aircraft on order
No love between labor or management
Split work rules for narrow/wide body
Bottom of peer group pay and benefits
Get a grip - UAL is shell of it's former self and your sir are living in the past. UAL is now considered as a place where regional Capts get experience to move on to SWA, FedEx, or UPS. It's no longer a "career destination", sadly only a career stepping stone.

Please tell me your joking! You mean that UAL sees itself as the pinnacle of aviation employment, really?

Just about every 737 operator makes (considerably) more than UAL pilots
and a few make more than 777/747 pilots at UAL!
Don't take it personally, it's just more than amusing to see a guy drinking the Kool-Aide like you do. It's a sellers market for qualified pilots and UAL doesn't offer much to attract the "last interview, carry the .1" best of the best candidate you seem to think wants to work at UAL.
You're right that I don't want to work for UAL, my pilot friends that do work there paint a picture of a living hell. But let's say I was a candidate, lets turn it around and let me ask you why UAL?
Honestly, what does UAL offer by comparison that would make a candidate want to apply at UA vs. another airline. As an outsider, it doesn't appear to much, but here is your chance to prove me wrong.

OK, anti-UAL point made. That said, any of you have some insight into where these folks might be based? Is IAD out of the question? How 'bout NYC? Gonna go as far as I can with the process. I'll make a choice when I actually have one.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have jump in on this one.
For someone to create a thread specifically designed to denigrate anyone who applies for a job at a major U.S. airline, imho, is quite pathetic. Why would anyone find it necessary to bash a company? Why would someone care where people apply for pilot employment? I think anyone with half a brain would agree that this person has issues. Draw your own conclusions.
And as far as UA being a training ground for other airlines...blah blah blah, that doesn't even pass the laugh test.

I think that the sheer number of former UA guys who bypassed recall speaks for itself. From my perspective, it seems that a lot of employees see their own company as a sinking ship. So why should anyone fight to climb aboard?
Maybe in 10 years, all of today's UA new hires will have the world by the ballz. But for the next few years, they have a tough road ahead of them -- lower wages/benefits and probably the worst labor-management relations in the business. Good luck.
