Have had 3 refs called within a week of my interview. Everyone tells me that's a good sign. But I've heard of guys getting turned down in spite of having references called.

Any stats or inputs some of you might want to share would be helpful and interesting...
Cheers

From what the bros have said, if they called your SWA references, then you're in good shape. Also, even though you've already interviewed, keep calling your bros to get more online recs in. You've got until the DB to get those in. Best of luck.

I was one of the late June interviews that got pushed to the Aug DB. My refs were called soon after the interview also. In fact many people whom I know at the company (former squadron mates) were contacted even though I didn't provide their names. The hiring guy was flying with someone from my base and asked and it networked out from there. They called a letter writer, a Pira form contact, and an online rec giver also.

From what I have been told, the interview and the LOI are scored separately and don't come together until the DB. Is this true?

Aug 14th.... oh well i have been waiting for over a month already. What's a couple of weeks more. Its worth it.

I've heard that as well. You can get all your references called based on how the interview went and still tube the whole thing based on a poor showing on the LOI. I talked with a senior FO who was on the team that helped develop the system years back and he said that the LOI typically weeds out about 10% of the applicants.

It's almost here... Good luck everyone! I had my mail stopped for this week, so it's 100% that I will not be getting a letter!

Just to add some light from last months DB. The DB was the 20th (Tuesday) and the calls didn't start going out until Monday. We were all expecting Friday but if you are not "expecting" it and it happens, then that is better. The first guys that I know of got their call late Monday afternoon and it was less than half way through the alphabet. My last name started with a T and I didn't get the call till Wednesday around 1200. One guy (last name W) didn't get his call till Thursday. Keep the faith, don't sweat it over the weekend.

PS. They block their caller ID when they call so if you see UNKNOWN, I would answer the phone.

If it says PRIVATE, then most likely it's someone messing with you. Right DT?

call id block? Oh that is so not fair. I screen all the telemarketers with caller ID. Did they call your home or cell?

They called my cell and it came up as "ANONYMOUS" on my phone. When I saw it I turned to my wife with a smile and said, "This is it!" Great moment.

They called my cell, but that's all I have. I don't think they are blocking the number. Every call that I have received from SWA's PD has said UNKNOWN.

Generally, if you make it to the DB, you are in. Unless you were featured on NBC's "To catch a predator"...

Peace, Im out.
Think the DB thumbs down rate is a bit higher than that! At least last summer, after my interview, they hired two of the twelve of us (lots of recommendation calls.....) And no, no predator appearances, DUIs or lying on my app for the DB! Some of the best jobs take a few tries to get, and SWA is the best. Waiting patiently for hiring to resume next year!
