Default Let’s Talk Pay Raises

The longshoreman recently ended their strike and scored massive pay increases the next several years. While pilots did OK this past contract cycle, I’m not the only one wondering when we will be heading back to the negotiating table.

What kind of improvements in pay rates, soft pay, and QOL should we be aiming for, as legacy pilots?

Inflation is still out of control and it’s affecting groceries and housing the most, which people cannot escape from. I’m a frugal guy, but I find it a little harder each month to pay for what I have in years past.

Let’s hope we get some big raises and improvements before it’s long overdue.

Ummm maybe a few months prior to your contract’s amendable date? I mean the timeline isn’t a secret.

The longshoremen still haven’t settled the future of their replacements called automation. My understanding is that’s due end of year.

That is going to be our biggest fight moving forward

Yes you are. Everyone else does know when they are headed back to the negotiating table. Most even know when other carriers are headed back.

I agree. Delta expires in 2026 and UAL/AA in 2027.

To be accurate, those are planned dates when the contract is amenable. Our contracts don’t expire and nothing in them is lost unless we let it or in bankruptcy.

FWIW, DL is amendable on Dec 31, 2026. Openers are over a year away.

I don’t think there will be big raises. We all got about 40% pay raises this cycle (legacy airlines). And to be honest, pilot expend a crap ton of money in things regular people can’t even afford.

A second yr FO it’s already making more than the average person.

I don't see them winning this one. We're gonna have humanoid robots available for public/household use next year or 2026... check out Tesla Optimus. Do these people really think they'll be able to contractually block technological progress? I just don't see this happening...
