the United Tumi TA could have done that but the Union shut down voting before the deadline.

Are they really that aggrieved? Or is it more that they have a lot of leverage right now, and the solidarity to take full advantage of it?

I'd be surprised if anybody anywhere gets back a lost pension, ever.

The contract took away the annual incentive bonus and share value incentive program which negated much of the raises (Year 1 - 11%, Year 2 - 4%, Year 3 - 4%, Year 4 - 6%). It is automatically extended for a 5th year with no raises unless Boeing receives 60-75 days notice. This comes after 16 years of a 1% raise every other year. Health insurance costs which were previously fixed are set to go up 10-15% a year. The cost of living in the Seattle area is 54% above the nation's average.

Yes, people are still salty about losing their pensions, but I don't think most people realistically hoped to get them back. They would have liked an improvement over their 401k 75% match on the first 8% and 4% DC. They were also hoping to get more of a guarantee that the next new plane would be built in Seattle, instead they got a "We will if we can." The contract extension in 2014 that took away the pension passed at a time when the 787 was being moved to Charleston and people were afraid of losing their jobs. People have had 10 years to regret that, and they want job security.

I read the Boeing TA to help a family member and have heard the local comments. You guys should know that a contract is always about more than just the pay.

Thanks for that. Sounds almost like our Contract 15 TA1 that essentially funded most of the raises with reduction in profit sharing ("monitizing PS" into guaranteed pay). Taking money out of one pocket and putting in another is not a raise.

yeah. I was like that’s it? To me, that means he isn’t planning on staying.

Most people in that price range aren’t financing at these rates.
