Respectfully, you missed the point. I didn’t say it did.

Post 8 used the plural, countries,. As in, more than just Iraq. I simply pointed out there was a country that did ‘pose a threat and do something hostile’ to us before we bombed and invaded.

That said, In hindsight, invading Iraq was a huge mistake. Not many would disagree with that. But we must also measure what we knew at the time. it’s not like they were just ‘minding their own business’ either.

fair enough. I’m not saying I know everything or would have definitely done a better job if I were in charge in 2001, but I think someone knew we were getting into Iraq for the wrong reasons. Whether that was the WH, CIA, or some other entity is above my pay grade.

If it’s an all or nothing then I can see your point. IMO Afghanistan seemed justified given the information we had at the time. Iraq seemed a bit more dubious. Which gives us a 50% when rating the wars we started in the ME. Not exactly a confidence inspiring grade

We knew Sadam had nasty weapons, because we gave/sold them to him. We didn't know apparently he'd used most of them already on his internal enemies. Sadam needed the US to validate his "leathelness" to his internal/external enemies (Kurds, Shia, and Iranians) and didn't believe the US would actually invade.

There were factions in the US who thought if the Iraqi population were just liberated from Sadam, the country would fall into a western style democracy. There were also many $$$$$ to be made in supplying/conducting war.

with the benefits they lost this isn’t enough to even cover current rates. It’s effectively a pay decrease.

Back on topic, what benefits did Boeing workers give up?

They gave up nothing. Just didn’t get their pension back.

Some union members said Sunday the proposal didn’t meet their expectations for wage increases or a restored pension. And the commitment to building in Washington, tied to the length of the four-year contract, didn’t last long enough to give workers the reassurance they were looking for.

Afghanistan was about AlQaeda.

Iraq was about Cheney and Bush 2 with unfinished business from Bush 1 and neocon nation building and oil and Halliburton.

None of which has anything to do with the spam no context/no comment post that started this thread. Also noticed that all of our complaints about it were quietly deleted... again.

Pensions are not coming back anywhere. When they are gone, they are gone.

Contract was rejected by 95%. Holy hell guys, what a show of solidarity! Has any union vote ever been so one sided?

Looks like the union voted 96 % in favor of a strike beginning an hour from now...
