Well, you are at least smart enough to realize this. But this is exactly why the Machinists need to strike. Boeing is too important to fail. The DOD needs Boeing, so they can never fail.

A quote from a Reuters artlicle about the striker's healthcare ending:

"There is no reason the health benefits question could not have been punted on to allow more time for negotiations at the table," Bryant added in a statement.

I'm sure that Boeing is saying that the workers could have punted on the strike deadline to allow more time for negotiation as well. That's the thing about self help....... both sides are released.

It also annoys me that we aren't allowed any kind of job action despite the fact that our jobs can't be replaced but people with a high school education and paralyze the economy.
So some of us (let’s be honest you mean yourself) will lose money because they’re striking but you also want the ability to strike yourself? Obviously, since you’re more educated you're allowed to hurt the economy. Hopefully you cross the picket line if the time ever comes. Think of all those more educated who would lose money because of you. I mean the owners of these companies did everything they could to run a well oiled machine. It was going so well for Boeing up until the pesky little workers got in the way.

The raise bought a punt to mid-January, they still have to address automation and some other stuff.

It’s 62% over 5 years. The contract they were replacing from 2017 was only 11 percent over 5 years. They got a way overdue raise considering their parent company made 800% profits during that time. FuPM ! Looks like labor is making a comeback.

I think the average was way lower than that. Article I read said they max out at $39/hr and that $100k was more like an upper threshold for those who worked a lot of OT. They were grossly underpaid.
