I find it very interesting that I am talking about the poor TIMING of the Boeing CEOs home purchase, and some people are arguing ITS NOT THAT EXPENSIVE...... completely missing the point.
Think back to the recent contract negotiations at all the airlines. Imagine if during the lead up to a strike vote, the CEO had bought a house commensurate with their income level.
The unions would run all kinds of ads exploiting the price of the house to garner support from the both the general public and the rank and file union voters.
But some people are incapable of understanding that.
So again, I wish Boeing the best of luck and hope that the CEO moving back to the Seattle area helps them survive. Just wish he had been smarter about the timing considering the contract negotiations.

Wow your response was not just tone deaf, but doesn't match reality.
"This past week, Ortberg closed on a $4.1 million home in a gated community in Seattle to be nearer the flagship factories for Boeing.
The opulent purchase from their new CEO has been criticized by Boeing workers as evidence the company can pay their workers more"

"I am a Machinist on Strike, last year i tried to purchase my first home. I was turned down for a $500k loan to purchase the home. The bank told me i dont make enough to afford the mortgage and mortgage insurance... This Strike is so we might be able to get back into the middle class."

"We know they got the money. If they can pay the CEO, they can pay us too," Boeing worker Ethel Dominique told FOX 13.
"You know, we're not asking for much. And we're happy that he can afford a nice new mansion, some of us can't. Some of us are paycheck to paycheck," added Dominique."

I think you are the one missing the point that he’s new. Where is he supposed to live?
If your airline’s CEO got fired in the middle of contract negotiations, and an outsider who lived elsewhere bought a relatively modest house in a decent part of town, I doubt anyone would lose their minds. That’s expected.
It seems like you are looking for something to be outraged over. Truly.

...........do you hear that loud voice? The one screaming "SA LOW, SA LOW"
It seems like you missed the posts where I said:
"in the grand scheme of things it is a GREAT move, to have the CEO back at the factory town."
"I think it's great that the CEO of Boeing is finally back in the factory town"
"I wish him and Boeing the best of luck"
.....maybe you can go back and read them now

You’ve made your point, many times over. Many disagree.

I think others are right though, he thought the TA would pass. I suspect it didn't because 25% sounds like a bunch but only gets someone back to where they were purchasing power wise about 2 years ago. 40% (what pilots, UPS drivers and UAW members got) gets us back to where we were 5 years ago. Nobody is getting ahead, we're just not drowning anymore.
Looks like Steveedors in NY/NJ are the next to fight for 40%.
This is what entrenched inflation does. It's nasty and hard to stop. Powell is no Volckler and the overall debt loads are so much higher than the late 70s that particular medicine probably wouldn't work anyway. Blow another bubble to kick the can again or suffer debt-deflation? Only one is a permanent cure but it hurts pretty bad so I suspect they'll keep trying the former. I guess it's working for Japan (if you ignore the lack of family formation and high levels of depression).
