Default European Scabs

I know this probably belongs in the Foreign forum, but not too many people head that way.

The pilots of Aer Lingus (Irish ALPA) have been performing industrial action for, I believe, the last few weeks, forcing the airline to cancel a number of flights. To help cover the lost flying:

Aer Lingus has...hired aircraft and [more importantly] crews from Spanish-based Privilege Style Airlines to fly Dublin-Chicago and Danish Air Transport to cover European routes popular with Irish sun seekers, including Malaga and the Greek islands.
It seems they are also adding flights to be flown by RyanAir:

The company’s note does not say how many flights are involved, but it is understood that Ryanair is providing two planes and crew to its competitor that will fly 12 services.

So I'll admit I'm too young to be familiar with any of the scabs and actions that occured in the US because it was, frankly, a long time ago. But flying struck work makes one a scab, yes? How do European carrier unions translate that to their own efforts?

That explains the two white 787s we saw taxiing out in ORD last two days and no Aer Lingus flights around that time I usually see there in the evening.

I’ve been wondering the same questions lately. The BDL-DUB flight has been operating normally the last few times I’ve been through BDL. I assume it’s scab pilots.

Don't assume. Most EI flights are operating normally. Their pilots are engaged in work-to-rule industrial action which means no overtime pickups and other unpredictable actions are being undertaken. There was also an 8 hour all-out strike on June 29th.

I saw them flying an OG Aer Lingus 330 from JFK but the call sign was something like 'green flight' not shamrock. That was a couple months ago but I wonder if that has something to do with the current work action

I think that’s just their normal callsign on their Manchester flights.

Green Flight is Aer Lingus UK's callsign. They are based out of MAN on a British certificate.

I get it. like if there was a knock off version of FedEx the call sign would be “purple flight”

Technically the callsign is "Morningstar"
