You should know who you are by this point in your life.

Also, what do you think would happen if they sat in the jumpseat with shorts? Some airlines allow it, so passengers shouldn't really be a problem. What are the chances that there is an FAA inspector who is familiar with our FOM or a CP within sight of the flight deck during boarding? What do you actually think would happen if a CP saw this?
‘Putting somebody in an uncomfortable position’ is a strange thing to say? Are you new to the adult world? That is exactly what those type of people are doing by asking the CA to deliberately go against their own FOM.

I find it strange that anyone could feel uncomfortable asking someone to follow the FOM. That's 90% of our job. So yes, I do find it strange of you feel uncomfortable with this.

Asking somebody to deliberately go against their FOM is the very definition of putting somebody in an uncomfortable position. I don't know what else to tell ya and why you find it strange. It is not strange at all to feel like that.

nobody does that's the point but this guy with his family in tow shows up that way.
Pretty disrespectful IMO.

IMHO, my career objective, at all times, is to make things as easy as any situation allows, both for myself, the FO and anyone else involved in the operation.

When I rarely Jumpseat, it’s uniform or business casual, one of the last people on board, documents in hand, “May I please ride along up front”. I strive to be the most forgettable person to ever ride along.

Easy. It’s allowing zero chance of taking up any unnecessary brain bytes that the crew might be using for something else.

I feel like deviating from the script is just kind of letting laziness pervade into the big picture.

For me, it falls under trying to keep things as standard as possible in all aspects of airline life, so we can all just keep on mindlessly printing money until we forgettable fade away from the company when we retire.

again, just how I personally approach things. I’m not gonna be butthurt if your shoes look a little crummy or you want to come down early and hang out. It doesn’t bother ME at all, but I can respect if it bothers some, so I try to stick to a script when I do it.

Don't land overweight.

...But the school house says it's OK and only requires a right up, just don't use the word "hard." Then it's not even an inspection just documentation.

Trooooooooooooooling. If this is your nonrev plan, then you give Cappy every reason to say yes. Not an issue.
