Uh, maybe the part where you said "Lastly, its not that big of a deal to have a commuter interrupt or stand there"

Default Workload Management.

Had many a jump seater over the years. Way back when when the 737 was nothing more than a multi engine aircraft with dual NAV/COMS to the latest and greatest glass cockpit jets. Some would enter the flight deck. I'd give a quick meet and greet and tell the to hang tight while I/we finish what ever I/we was/were doing at that point. Many had their docs on the ready. Those that did not... I'd politely ask for them. I's offer them, with the concurrence who was with me up front, the jump seat rather than sitting in the middle of row umptydump in front of the aft LAV.

Some of those who had assigned seats in the back would pop their heads in the flight deck to thank us of the ride. I'd respond happy to have been able to get you to where you need to go. Some did not. Possibly a tight connection, distracted with other issues, or what ever. Again... happy to get them where they need to go.

In the last few years, I have seen an influx of jumpseaters who come down the jetbridge 35 mintues before departure and crowd the flight deck awkwardly staring over us as we do our business.

I can't really ask them to stand in the jetbridge because TSA regulations don't allow them to leave once boarded. Some stations enforce this more than others.

Please stop doing this.

Oh yeah... don't make me ask for your documents. Hand them over as you ask for a ride.
can we please delete this thread. The OP used the word cockpit which is very offensive.

this is actually caused many pilots who go on these forums to call in sick recently because of the mental toll.

yes, your majesty.

Wow, you seem pleasant. Think I'll catch another flight. I'm all for being prepared, having docs ready, etc. But there's a nice way of doing it. I bet you inspect shoeshines and type of pants as well

Some people just make easy hard in this job and it doesn’t just mean doing the job. There are a lot of neurotic personalities in this career and people with near zero social skills.

Said someone who clearly lives in domicile and hasn't had to jumpseat for anything for many, many years... totally clueless. 🙄

"Flight decks" are for aircraft carriers.

As others have said, as a commuter I go down early so I can secure a spot for my bag. I'd prefer not to gate check. Some FA's tell me the closet is full, etc. If I end up in the cockpit then I'd hate for my bag to be all way at the end of the airplane as I'm trying to leave when we land. I always go stand in the jet bridge after checking in, unless SWA, then I take a seat.

95% of domestic CA's don't make the walk anymore, so this is what you get. As a CA it's your fault.
You get your jumpseat ticket with the agent as early as possible. You wait til the last few passengers to come down.

Those are two different things.
