I’ve never heard a pilot call it “tarmac” before.

Weird, thought they still did a hearing test for a first class...

And you have never had to talk about that program with the other "guy"?

Well this is a new one on me. In seven years of jump seating I have never seen this occur or even know it was a thing.

It must just be a DL pain program for OAL jumpseaters. They don’t let you board until after the last passenger, so even if there’s an open seat, my luggage is going to baggage claim most of the time. I try to avoid them whenever possible, but sometimes they are the only option.

We've had them come down if there are seats available, but a Delta pilot can show up 15 minutes prior to departure and bump the OAL so there is no reason to let them down early in that case.

I get that…. it’s just that no any other carrier operates that way in my experience. It’s the only place I have to check a bag. It’s not the crews—it’s the agents.

In the last few years, I have seen an influx of jumpseaters who come down the jetbridge 35 mintues before departure and crowd the flight deck awkwardly staring over us as we do our business.

I can't really ask them to stand in the jetbridge because TSA regulations don't allow them to leave once boarded. Some stations enforce this more than others.

Please stop doing this.

Oh yeah... don't make me ask for your documents. Hand them over as you ask for a ride.
It's pretty much standard at this point to check in, ask for a ride, then stand aside. No need to wait around in the flight deck, so "crowding" isn't as much of an issue as you're making it. And if it is? Politely ask them to stand in the jetbridge - as a jumpseater, you count as a crewmember anyways, not a passenger. The TSA rules for deplaning don't count. Don't make something out of nothing, and don't be afraid to stand up to the TSA either if they decide to make a stink out of it.

Oh yeah...and "making you ask" for documents? Is your life really so privileged that this is a massive deal to you? It takes like an extra 7 seconds tops to produce your docs....Man...I pity the FOs who fly with you.

Delta post pandemic has become the literal worst airline to commute on.

The agents treat you like a criminal, they're not letting you near the plane until the last second, and enjoy "going downstairs" to retrieve your bag... From baggage claim after they make you check it because there's no space for it last second as they try to close up and leave 20+ minutes early.

That is it course assuming you make it to the gate 30+ minutes early. God forbid you have a tight commute, they'll be gone 20 prior to departure or deny boarding because it's too close. Riiigghhtt, you just don't want to risk going out five early... Lol!
