I can't really ask them to stand in the jetbridge because TSA regulations don't allow them to leave once boarded. Some stations enforce this more than others.

Please stop doing this.

Oh yeah... don't make me ask for your documents. Hand them over as you ask for a ride.
Why do pilots like this guy make this job harder than it really is? What do you expect to happen if you just tell the guy to wait in the jet bridge? Nothing would happen. Yet you cite some regulation that doesn’t matter. Here’s a hint, you are a pro pilot, if you’re concerned about another fellow pilot waiting in the jet bridge for security reg reasons, then you have bigger problems. You should know about common sense by now, you’re an adult. How do you not put your pants on over your head every day?

If it's a 737 and I know I'll be upfront I typically take my bag downstairs after I check in. Then I wait in the jetway. I'll be one of the first off the jet and I'd rather go down and retrieve my bag than have to wait to get it out of the back.

Go downstairs?? wtf? yeah, that's not allowed at most airlines. None if your OAL.

I’m pretty sure boatbuilder (DAL) is referring to our ability to load our luggage in the cargo compartment as an online jumpseater. Kind of like a self gate check.

I see. We (UAL) usually let jumpseaters store their luggage in the cabin by coming down early. I’m a frequent DL JSer and have to check my bag often as the gate agents hold us hostage until the last person has boarded. Small price to pay for the free ride though.

Never heard "I am going downstairs" used in that way. Where are the stairs other than the stairs going down to the tarmac?

I would say most JS pilots regardless of airline store their luggage in the cabin. Some JS pilots prefer to not have to wait during deplaning to “swim up stream.” They get to just walk off the plane to the ramp to retrieve their bag.
