As much as I love buying into this rhetoric everytime I hear it, I honestly just don't see it.. at least at the legacy level.

The only way I truly see that happen is if one of the airlines, god forbid, craters one.

Agreed, I don't think any of the main US airlines are at the "trash" level. Sure, one will always have a slight edge here or there, but certainly not enough to make another trash.

Well it looks like Delta came out of their once a decade meltdown relatively unscathed. The passengers have short memories and the media have moved on. Their management has done an incredible job of blame deflection. They'll probably get 50 cents on the dollar back from Crowdstrike and Microsoft. The pilots will still get better profit sharing than us this year.

I shudder to think how it's going to go when it's our turn to melt down. We survived the Crowdstrike thing because our computer system is vintage 1970s but it only takes an ice storm in DFW or a hurricane that strafes the east coast to throw us into chaos. I think we will have a much worse recovery due to the anger and apathy inherent in our employees. I heard Delta pilots and FAs were just waiting at the airport begging to fly but they couldn't get anyone on the phone for hours. I think most of our people will say "f- it, dude, let's go bowling" and go home and wait to hear from the company while rome burns.

You have to hand it to Delta's hiring practices. They are VERY good at spotting the mission hackers. The people who will bend over backwards to help the company at the expense of their fellow employees and completely disregarding and devaluing the contract. Delta's HR is second to none.

I don't think letting the operation burn is in the contract, nor does getting lost in the system on a layover for 5 days sound fun.

lol, no matter how much your CEO tries to deflect the blame the operation absolutely burnt to the ground. All the mission hackers in the world couldn't save you. But all the stories I hear are very cute tho!

I was there throughout this whole thing from Saturday on, and outside of a few outliers that’ll always be that way, this wasn’t happening, at least on the pilot side. Mostly people just sitting around waiting for a phone call wondering what was next. But whatever spin makes you feel righteous.

This is what I saw as well. Lots of pilots sitting around in the lounge ready to fly; just waiting to get a phone call from company that never came. But, CONTRACTUALLY, that’s the requirement. Most of the people I saw there were waiting for their flight to depart that was just a rolling delay or waiting to find out what to do after a cancel or waiting for recovery flying. Hang out until you time out then go home (or hotel).

I didn’t see anybody try to subvert the contract or seniority. People just wanting to see the company that they’ve invested their career to recover so that they continue to have an employer. Yes, frustration. Yes, a desire to be able to do something. But I didn’t see or hear anybody talk of breaking the contract.

This is what gets lost at American. So many people treat the company like it's our enemy, forgetting that our livelihoods depend on the company's success. Not saying anyone should subvert the contract or seniority, but a little bit of helping the customers goes a long way.
