I also abhor double standards, such as those in Let Experienced Pilots Fly leadership who have tacitly approved of ALPA's objection to raising the retirement age for almost four decades only to suddenly have a problem with it once they reach the top of their own seniority list.

And, of course, the epic selfishness of purporting to "fix" a perceived pilot shortage. If there were a pilot shortage, it would increase our leverage and ability to extract contractual gains. But LEPF would rather benefit themselves in the short run instead of nurture the industry in the long run.
None of that matters to these whiny, old multi-millionaires who just can't let go. Send LEPF more money now! Minimum $1000 donation requested! lol

On the other side of the coin, I have flown with captains at Southwest who would gripe with the best of them, yet the worst thing that ever happened in their 25+ year career was...... what? A merger where they came out on top? They certainly outearned their legacy peers by leaps and bounds, and all while the rest of the industry lost half our pay, lost our pensions, saw stagnation due to age 60 getting unstatus-quoed, etc. etc. There is no such thing as cookie-cutter career that everyone feels they're entitled to, but collectively, we sure can whine with the best.
But sure is hypocritical.

Looks like the FAA Reauthorization will be wrapped up by the end of next week. This is an additive process, each side brings their own toys to the party. Generally speaking, they all get what they want, everyone is happy. SW will get one of the five slots.
