This! Also languages stop getting passed down universally world wide unless kids are heavily indoctrinated in emersion schools. Household will is no longer enough from the second to the third, not to mention mixed marriages. There really is something about the third (plus) generations.

This is a very hypothetical discussion, and what you point out is ALWAYS the big problem with any sort of entitlement taxation.

There's no good answer. My (hypothetical) intent is not to redistribute wealth but rather to dilute the inevitable concentration of power in the elite class, and allow more people to enjoy self-sufficiency. So I'm certainly not suggesting welfare. Public infrastructure?

You're all over the place with this. Relatives can't inherit money because it's a scourge and there's no incentive for those with the inheritance to make their own way. So instead, let's hand it out so someone with nothing to do with it can enjoy "self-sufficiency". What?!? Sounds like the mortgage fee restructuring that happened last year. Your friends' kids are bums, so let's create policy to fix it. Mind boggling...

Careful lest you get moderated and assigned points for having a dissenting opinion. Or at the least your posts get deleted.

I really enjoy those conversations, even if they get preachy about it. It's always interesting to learn others views on these things as I don't know everything and sometimes have my mind changed, or maybe changed their mind. Sometimes they're completely out to lunch and good debate becomes fun. It has a way of challenging their/your position and see how it stands up, which is a good thing. Sure beats running through the same boring list of where you live, married, kids, pets, etc... I even learned WAY more than I ever cared to learn about ComiCon and steampunk on a trip once, but the FO was super into it and it passed the time. It's always fun to see people talk about the things they're passionate about. If they're too obstinate to debate, I just say that I've been wrong before too. Lol, that's always fun.

Everybody who got moderated attacked me personally. Feel free to debate the topic all you like, don't make it personal and keep it civil. That applies to anyone on these forums, but if you personally attack a mod in the middle of an active discussion it's more likely to get noticed.

I don't think handouts are a good idea at all. But if you hadn't noticed our public infrastructure is crumbling around our ears.

But the reality is more money to big government is ultimately going to enable more handouts, as pols race to buy votes. Perhaps such a policy would encourage people to give to charities of their choosing (vice .gov's choosing). Or maybe just spend it all before they go.

Again this is just a half-baked idea, not something that I'm lobbying for or even remotely have any means to implement. Nor would I if I were king for a day, without a lot of due process.

The government already has mechanisms to create money out of thin air. Most of it is spent on entitlements, not infrastructure.

What mechanism would you propose that would do that with your system’s confiscated wealth?

As I said, that's the problem. I think churning the generational elites might be useful, but not necessarily if the flip side is more government bloat and handouts.
