Spot on, so do I. I have Johnston & Murphy, but I highly recommend Allen Edmonds, as well.

As far as shoe shines, these hands can shell out money to have someone else shine them.

I like you Whack, but really, this is a stretch to far. I dont think I have ever, not once looked down and inspected someones shoes and short of tennis shoes, I dont think I would give it a second thought. Life is to short.

Each their own I guess.

I don't know if this qualifies as "minimalist", but if that equates to "best value", then I don't think you can beat this deal.

There's a handful of options on Amazon. I tried them one time and they are OK. For comfort, I think it's worth it to buy a shoe with a slightly higher quality of leather, but if minimalist equates to minimum price, I don't think you can beat the prices at Amazon. Reviews are very good as well.
