i was poking fun of the other poster who said “Pacific crossings” flying to Hawaii in the 737 from the mainland.

but yes the Gulf of Mexico is part of the Atlantic Ocean. Not sure where you thought it was…

Don’t listen to naysayers man. You should be proud of yourself for making it this far and reaching the airline job where you want to be. And whether you’re joking around, we are international airline pilots.

I truly believe in the American dream. Not too many years ago I was in $8000 credit card debt. Got a job working construction as an apprentice and quickly realized I could turn my life around. I paid off that debt and worked hard for years!

Eventually had the opportunity to buy into the company which was a risky move like anything. During some slower times, it was a little nerve wracking. My shares were paid off but there was little income coming in. It all worked out. The reason I share this is to stay positive.

Does flying over Lake Erie, from end to end, count as a crossing?

Atlas 12 yr, 767 CA
Lazy and live in base. Bid mostly week on/week off patterns with layovers in base as much as possible so I don’t work very much. Don’t know the meaning of open-time. Average 16 days off per month. Always take my two months of vacation and conflict bid my training. Very little Article 33 flying on the light twin. Haven’t worked a Christmas, Thanksgiving or New Year’s Day in 6 years. Passed on Brown and AA last year. The golden handcuffs are firmly shackled I suppose. I could bid about 50% seniority on the 747 or 777 and after seeing some of the paychecks those guys are getting I may have to jump ship to another fleet.

W2: 268k
401k match: 11.5k (without true-up)
Total comp: $279,500
Block hours: 301

AA NB FO
4yr pay
256k wages
40k 401k DC
296k total AA compensation
480 block hours

commuter
didnt feel like I worked that hard at all. lots of drops for being unqualified and various other conflict scams during the year. I have a busy personal life so it was amazing I made 296K

used to drop my trips and pick up broken trips at premium. Those days have ended because the company locked down trip trading.

I made @250k total last year and that was an aberration but this year was more of the same. Really, really doubt I’ll make more than 200k total in 2023.

You’re not gonna wanna do that after this meltdown we just had. If you’re under 45 don’t even waste your time here. Go to a real legacy.
