How many airline pilots do you know who die of Fentanyl overdoses?

Might have had something to do with a minor pandemic that killed a million or so Americans.

Agreed, quite a few unhealthy (and some healthy) were wiped out early by the pandemic. Hazard to guess if you made it to federal politician age now, your probably good to go till at least mid 80's.....

Only one. I am guessing most of us die earlier based on our enormous beer bellies from drinking large quantities of alcohol.

Exactly. Had they been still working they might have lived longer. Tongue in cheek of course but all these studies are paid for propaganda to say the least.

There was a Spirit pilot and his wife who OD'd a few years ago.

Cargo pilots die within 2 years if they make it to retirement, it is no secret (Look around you). Horrible sleep patterns, diet, stress, lack of exercise and the exposure to the elements adds years. Most I knew died from cancer and not even make to their 67th birthday. In my opinion the union needs to push for a very handsome hazard pay, but doubt that will ever happen.

Pilots can repeat this myth one million times, but it doesn't make it any more true.

There are exactly zero studies, from ALPA or insurance actuaries or anybody else, to support this thinking.

Yes, there ARE studies about decreased lifespan in shift workers - but none of those captured professional pilots.
