This is definitely not a healthy occupation.

“60% of 282 retired airline pilots included in a recent study died within five years of leaving their jobs, according to an international pilots organization.”

I wonder whether the FAA would consider reducing the 1,500 hr requirement.

that is the biggest hurdle for new pilots.

It really isn't too much to ask to have 1-2 years of experience before flying passengers in a jet.

Well we found a management troll.

I also don't want a heart surgeon who just graduated from medical school.

1500 hours is the minimum and needs to stay that way.

I am sad for you. The thought of spending a lifetime in a profession you don’t love, is disheartening. But to each his own, live and let live.

I retired from the airline, not flying.

You could look at it this way…My spouse of 34 years moved on and left me a big $ettlement. Now I have younger part time girl friend(s), (only when I want).

Well, in a profession where at least 50% of the workforce see’s their personal identity and sense of value tied to their profession… not sure that’s a big surprise
