Yes, if it happens this year or next, it will most likely be in the budget re-authorization.

Some random congress-critter may not have the juice to get a stand-alone bill done, but there is a LOT of horse-trading and sausage making that goes into the budget, everybody gets something they want (usually pork), but you also get stuff like this. Unless there's a big media or public outcry.

Not saying it's going to happen, but if it does that's HOW it will happen.

Would negotiating capital Be used against the pilot group under a no age limit case?

What do you think? If it wasn't for an age limit and the 1500 hour rule do you think pay and QOL would have improved? Look at how the rest of airline employee groups are treated. There are supermarkets that treat their employees better.

Another point that gets overlooked is the furlough implications of no retirement age. In cutbacks, closures, or bankruptcies, the needs of a few (and history has shown the many on top holding out) on top will create a lot of pain for the industry. Less hiring across the board will lead to major stagnation. Just long enough for the furloughed to become the first replaced by tech (even if 20+ years from now).

These are all problems for the airlines to solve. They should be allowed to fail if needed instead of punting all their problems off to the taxpayer.

Every problem is the problem of the tax payer. Every problem needs a financial solution and that solution is solved through taxes, the tax payer. The majority of pilots pay taxes into a system that they will never see a net benefit from their contributions, so if it means a bailout to keep pilots employees, so be it.

We have 20 year olds asking for tax money to pay their loans off, so in the light of that, I say “bring on the money to benefit me as well”.

If it had co-sponsors and traction it would be a good candidate for the FAA Reauthorization next year. Bit doesn't, so it isn't. I would never expect something like this that is highly both attenuated and inflammatory to be a stand-alone bill.

It could just be one dude grabbing some press coverage in an election year (if that's the case it worked).

But there might also be more folks involved, and this is a trial balloon. Might be discussions to which us pilots and the media are not privy to. We'll never know until they finalize the budget.

What legislation did he float? There is none, so no cosponsors.
