I get that but if someone is posting on this thread they post their W2 and company 401k contribution. If your excess comes in as earnings you can’t include it in your 401k total because it’s earnings. That’s why no one says they got $70k in their 401k because the overage was already accounted for in the earnings number they would have posted.

How many interns get furloughed? Do people ever stop getting sick? Now that aside, to be fair, I do know 2 friends who became doctors and had a very tough and long upcoming with the cost of malpractice insurance. And people will sue for malpractice over the most ridiculous things. And the insurance company and employers will just settle, driving the cost of the insurance up.

I should have been more precise. The defined contribution plan limit was $58k. The employee pretax deferral limit was $19.5k. The catch up contribution is separate from those and the limit was $6.5k.

just curious since your nights away are 40 shouldn’t your days at work be at least 80? With 40 layovers wouldn’t that mean you had at the very least a day flying to your layover and then a day flying back? Maybe I’m missing something I didn’t math good in school

Ah, you caught that. That's a personal stat. I count it a night away if I block in late at night. By the time I walk in the door at home everyone is asleep just like when I layover and I don't see anyone until the morning, sometimes afternoon because I usually stay up until about 3am on those nights and by the time I get up, kids are in school and/or wife is at work. It is just as though I did a layover. So...

Well, he explained it already, but if he had a 41 day trip, it would have been 41 days of work, and 40 nights away, so it is possible that you weren't good in math.
