Lots of opportunities for $$$ at SWA, especially this past year. Sometimes you have to hustle, this past year you just had to show up.

SWA trips are extremely productive. They probably fly more legs/day than any non-regional carrier. So they do work hard, but it's efficient.

Eh… not really.

I fly 3 legs at most per day and I trade out of anything more than that unless it’s up and down California.

We make our money on our work rules. For example, earlier show = premium all day. Reroutes also pay a lot. Get JA’d? That’s double time or full rigs whichever is greater.

The only people at SWA who make guarantee are line holders who never pick up and never get messed with. Our reserves always make more than guarantee simply by showing up. The only way they make guarantee only is if they never get called - fat chance of that these days.

And that’s assuming you’re not picking up anything.

If you pick up, you can kill it.

For example I’ll block around 85 hrs this month. 13 days off. Credit is 202. I sit around 40% in my base.

5 days were OT pickups at 200%. The rest was my normal line that’s paying 150%.

Definitely not normal, but I’ll take it.

Our trips are very efficient (generally speaking). You come to work and you fly but that translates into a high $ per day worked ratio. I like it as I’d much rather spend my time at home instead of 20+ hour layovers in a hotel.

Also, given the current staffing shortage, the company is offer 1.5X & 2X pay so that is awesome.

I can typically average about 9 TFP/day during “normal times” but now it’s just off the charts. I’m talking like 12-15.

Just saw a 4-day that at double time paid 59 TFP or $14,493.

Not me, but it would be nice if someone took all these numbers and put it on a spreadsheet to share so that it’s more objective.

I agree with you, but his rack and stack mirrors (almost exactly) the one I came up with in the spring of 2017 as I prepared to start applying. My rankings skewed towards financially stable companies and total compensation. Other factors seemed very subjective.
