The training program is designed for 121 operations, which is reviewed and approved by the FAA. Its up to you to meet the instructors more than half way. You join a study group, and study, be prepared for each day in the training program, you’ll do just fine.

How do you do that? Are the instructors part of the study group?

Ground School will cover general subjects, which includes 121 regs. If you have no 121 experience, it’s up to you to participate in class and ask whenever in doubt. As someone else has said already, the FAA has approved their 121 training. Instructors are pretty good, they will assist even on their off time BUT don’t expect anyone to spoon feed you. There are several ATP school pilots, with ZERO Jet and ZERO 121 experiences. They are sharp, ask questions and study.

Default Avelo Questions

I currently have 2 CJOs, 1 from Envoy, and 1 from Avelo, and I’m trying to see if Avelo is the right fit for me.

From my understanding, I will have to pay for my ATP/CTP course/written, but will Avelo pay for my ATP certificate, or will I have to pay for that out of pocket?

From what I have been reading on the forums, HVN is the current junior base, but how long is it taking to hold RDU, or MCO? Ideally, I would move to base, but HVN just does not seem like the place for me. How big of a hassle is it to commute from RDU - HVN, or MCO - HVN, whether it be on company metal or another airline?

What’s the stability of Avelo? Will I constantly wake up, and in my commute to the airport be wondering if the doors have closed, or is it a relatively “secure” job?

Is the pilot group currently satisfied with the operation?

For any airline, if you don't have your ATP you will get it during your type ride.

I think Avelo 1000% wouldn’t even think about it at 1500 hours

Even Allegiant is hiring 1500 hour with RATP.

Yeah I talked to Allegiant at a recent aviation expo. I’m a 1000 hour ATP, and they told me to get my ATP/CTP done, and apply. That’s the case with all of the ULCCs I’ve talked/applied to, however Avelo will interview without the ATP/CTP.

I’m definitely leaning towards Avelo, just trying to ensure I make the correct choice
