Why wait? Breeze wasn't even in business for a year and voted alpa in.

Fair enough. Looks like the examples others provided are kind of what I said, ie arbitrary discipline, lying to people about bases, etc. It's insane too if he was allowed to become CP when not even possessing the proper qualifications from the civilian world because of his experience in the damn ARMY, not even an aerial force like the Air Force or even the Navy. Did he even fly helicopters in the Army? I thought Avelo was trying create a culture that was opposite this kind of military management style? Does the CEO even care, or did he put this guy in the CP position to attempt to cut costs?

Breeze went down the road that Avelo seems to be headed down at the moment, so that's what happened.

But this isn't any shocking surprise right? You've been in the industry for a while right? They walk all over you if you just let them have their way.

That's a very good question.

I wondered that as well.

Perhaps he didn't like being a FO ? I doubt he had seniority to upgrade by time he left?

But I wonder if there's more. Usually when there is a problem a global airline finds a way to get Union & pilot to agree to a resignation. Prevents wrongful termination lawsuit & allows the pilot to look elsewhere, not having to explain being fired. But leaving AMR?????That's a tough one too explain.

From a good source at American, HH was always a FO and wanted to become management at American. He had some sort of history where he was deemed unqualified.

When HH came to Avelo, he had one issue where he became flustered and the training captain took over and guided/calmed him. When the old CP TT wanted to step down due to work life balance issues, HH applied for the CP position. He was the 2nd choice after an external candidate. When the 1st choice did not pan out, HH was being pushed by guys in the training department. Our training department is filled with former ExpressJet pilots that never flew with anyone else. The Training Manager, the Tech Pilot, and DO are former ExpressJet. For those that know the DO, he is one of the worst people in the industry and has a terrible reputation. Speak to guys at SkyWest, United, and Delta about him and they all know who he is. The DO and CP HH have similar personalities and so it makes it difficult for any changes. That’s why we are going right to the CEO.

From the beginning, they marketed Avelo as a new type of Airline with an employee friendly of “doing the right thing.” It’s even on our HR guidebook. So guys are given Captain upgrades out of seniority, pilots are disciplined without any hearings or appeals, terminations without an appeal process, promotions to Check Airman bypassing more qualified candidates. The CP HH is in charge of hiring, promotions, upgrades, and terminations. He is using his position to ruin careers because he can.

I guess that is why he didn’t have a future at American.

I’m retired AA and casually considering Avelo, so the CP comments give me pause.

Regardless HH leaving in 2015, though unusual, isn’t unique. AA excels @ creating a desire to look elsewhere. Numerous pilots left quite early during my tenure. I left 6.5 years early, and came close to leaving even earlier several times. It’s not for everyone.

Has the CEO responded?

Cons: As I and others already mentioned.

Pros: the front line employees are amazing and great to work with.

With your experience, I think HH would leave you alone. He mostly picks on people who he thinks are “inferior” or he feels threatened by.
