I’m the Older guy looking to revive my 121 career, only been away a little over 5 years. Can someone point me in the right direction to get a email for a recruiter? And where the meet n greet schedule is? My app is in and live close to BUR, If I got an interview and was successful I’d happily be there for my remaining time! About a decade to go before a 121 pumpkin 😎👍 Thanks

The meet and greets are usually posted on linked in and social media platforms. It will take close to a year right now to hold Burbank unless we get massive growth on the west coast.

We all know it. They know it, this management isn’t new to the game.
Pay: not great but competitive and those who have asked if APC’s pay-rates are updated, no they aren’t. There’s been a recent bump that have been better to FO’s, not great for Captains. They’ll make those public soon (that’s what we were told). They definitely need to be improved for Captains.
Schedules: we bid and they’re awarded based on Seniority. Just like any other airline, it’s suck to be a RSV pilot, but we’ve all had to pay our dues at some point in our careers.
Bases: BUR MCO ILM RDU HVN. That seems to be the order from most senior to most junior bases. Both CA and FO.
Work Rules: They’ve been working on them for quite a while and we’re still waiting for them to be published. I honestly don’t think they be a big difference to what we have in place today. If that’s the case, then the time for Union talk has fully matured.
Overnights: None, unless you fly a charter. And NO, you don’t sleep on airplanes. You sometimes have red eye charter flying, just like any other 121 carrier. Once again, if you’re Junior, you’re a RSV pilot and those charters will be assigned to you.
Attrition: everyone in the industry except UPS, FedEx, DA or UA are experiencing attrition. Avelo isn’t the exception. Ask AA or SWA how many drop out in the middle of ground school.
Management: GB is chaos. He was chaos at Allegiant. He’s brought that with him. His micromanaging skills are felt throughout the ranks. The CP is clueless. He had some big shoes to fill when the previous guy returned to the line. They’re pilot complaints about mistreatment and even racism toward some pilots. He probably needs to go. The DO, well he has his reputation. Ask any ExpressJet pilot how they felt about SH. We can feel it already. Condescending, sleazy. Hey, your typical DO!
Training: if you can’t make it through their program, you have some serious problema. Almost 3 week ground school, 7 FTD, 11 FFS including your PC/Type. Instructors are great. Of course there are some exceptions. Check Airman are great. But the FAA Inspector who does their type ratings needs to go. It’s all about him and his 90 years of experience. Does Avelo control this? Does Avelo choose their Type Ride Inspector? NO and NO. That is sent out as a bid for qualified FAA Inspectors by the FAA. The FAA sends to Avelo who ever the bid is awarded to. His services will no longer be needed once the training center moves to MCO…we all hope. Avelo is working on the ADE program but the FAA has some serious attrition as well so there are no 737 qualified Inspector around or interested in being part of the Avelo ADE program. The FAA too feels the pilot shortage.
This Company is great. If you’re young (20-30), move on. Be honest, don’t waste their money, don’t waste your time. Head to the one of the big 3. If you’re an older guy and are afraid to be at the bottom the seniority list of one of these big 3 and be furloughed on the next dump the economy takes, then Avelo is the place for you. You’ll have seniority, great people to work with and you’ll be part of the evolution of the airline. It will evolve and Levy knows it. He’s invested way too much time and money to not care. MX is great. Training is good. The Technical Department is awesome. They keep the pilots educated with constant and easy to read information which I find very professional. I truly enjoy it.
You on the other hand seem miserable. You should leave. Why be at a place that makes you feel miserable? It’s just not for you. Good luck.
AA and SWA is no different than Delta and UA. People change legacies/majors when they get the call to the airline where they live. We, AA have hired from other legacies that equals out to those that left. I had a Delta and United guys in my new hire class. Just sayin

I don’t think you determine who needs to leave or stays. Yes many of us are upset. This was one of the best companies that I have ever worked for till the new Chief came in. I have heard he is racist and that crew members have filed a few complaints against him. When there are so many accusations from different people, I tend to believe them. I knew him before he became chief. He is not someone that the pilot group respects. Maybe if you have the same political and racial prejudices, then you would respect him.

Everyone knows the DO is as sleazy as they get. I heard about him at ExpressJet and he brought the same mentality to Avelo.

For those that are not at Avelo, we have a tendency to terminate pilots without a fair review or appeal. The CP HH is in charge of hirings, promotions, and firings. Many of us have wrote to the CEO asking for a change. I have spoken to the old Chief TT and he told us that he would not have gone to the extent of terminations and demotions that HH did.

Like I said, this was a great company before SH and HH showed up.

Avelo’s ACP profile says they have a new southeast based planned for the fall of 2023. Anybody have an idea where this new base might be?

What kinds of stuff were people fired or demoted for? Does he do stuff like question sick calls, change people's schedules, award lines or bases outside of seniority order to people he likes? I know the reserve rules changed for the worst, but what else? Has the CEO responded to the allegations against him?

These days, when people accuse someone of 'racism', I tend to discount their argument as just a personal attack against someone they don't like. Maybe the guy is indeed an assho1e, but most times when someone is called a racist, it's just because the accuser can't find a legitimate reason to not like them.

Nailed it regarding HH.

I was a DEC & everything promised he unilaterally took away. I wrote CEO as well basically saying if you want a Pilot Union, your CP is doing overy thing he can to get one. He lost 3 DEC is a few weeks due to HH. Lied to my face.

I left directly due to HH.

He thinks he is still in the US Army as a full Col.

As a Vet I've seen too many like him before.
