Then he should just say that. What’s with the codewords? 😂

That's what I'm saying. But he won't come out and say it in one post. Maybe making things up?

Are there any Mil Guard/Reserve with the company? I’m very interested as they have a crew base pretty close to my future part-time Mil job when I transition. I’m concerned that with the company still being in its infancy it may be hard to sync up a schedule with military commitments.

We actually do have an ops person at HVN who is qualified to give RCC information after the tower closes. I've landed many times after 10pm, and there is nearly always someone in a truck on the CTAF who announces when they are moving around the airport surface. That's the guy to query.

Default Avelo Initial Training

Have a friend from back home asking about Avelo and I don't know too much about the airline's initial training.

I understand they are not using AQP yet and it may be moving to the MCO area soon, but does anyone else have any insights/information on training? How difficult is it? How much memorization? How long is it? Location?
Pay?

Thanks.

Pay is $6300 a month. Currently all training in Dallas. It takes about 6-8 weeks and you will get a few breaks and they pay for the hotel when you are there. It’s slow but almost everyone passes. Lots to memorize but plenty of time to get you up to speed. It moves to Orlando in Summer as they open new training facility.

Not many but I do know an FO and a FA who is a guard flyer. They still have to follow public law so if needed you can educate them. They can’t fire you for mil participation.

Any update on hiring, where people are getting based and hours per month? Would be looking to get Burbank.

Thanks!

Are you typically used in your own base or will the company DH you around to cover flying in other bases? I'm curious how that works since it is a day trip operation.

The answer is hard to say but they can put you in another base to cover reserve if you’re in an over staffed base like MCO, but usually guys that are commuters volunteer for that. Seems like most open time flying is covered by off day pilots that are in that base.

Are reserves flying much?

Not really overall perfect for the person that lives in base and has a family or want to be home and touch an airplane 3 times a month. If you’re a green captain or in High mins they will use you first.

Can you pick up open time?

Yes

Can you pick up trips out of other bases?

Yes on off days

Anything else to be aware of?

This airline is very good for the live in base time that enjoys quality of life, over the commuter. The lines are built as good as they can I guess but, you’ll be much happier living in base.
Are you able to stack your flying together in 12-14 days doing turns, and be off the rest of the month?

What is the timing on the opening of the MCO training center?
