That's probably because they will need lots of Captains to support their projected airframe acquisitions, and would otherwise be stuck with lots of FOs who don't meet Part 121.436 requirements. As well as the assurance that they will succeed in training, pass the type checkride, AND be ready to be captain-qualified or upgrade quickly. Their growth plans are impressive.

If they needed people who could *legally* upgrade right away, they would be fine just hiring people who have 1000 121 already and want to get out of the regionals. If it's true that they're only hiring people with 737 types, it means they most likely are having some sort of issues doing type rides, maybe they have trouble with examiner scheduling. For people that already have the type, the company can put them through the training program and give them a PC and they can start IOE, people without the type need to take an actual checkride with an examiner. This is most likely the problem. If they're stuck only being able to hire people with 737 types, it's really going to limit any expansion, and if they are indeed doing it on purpose, that means that they aren't trying to expand too quickly, which isn't a bad thing. How is attrition these days?

My class is about 50% typed and of those that got hired as direct Capt are all typed I believe. They actually talked to us about the scheduling of type check rides as you described.

Is Avelo going to host any type of hiring event such as meet the chiefs, or are they going to be at any of the upcoming aviation conferences such as PAPA Aerospace Expo?

Weren't they giving religious exemptions to everyone who wanted one anyway? Good news, either way. MCO-CHS announced today as well, so unless they plan on doing some overnights, looks like MCO is going to be the next base.

This is true but some wouldn’t apply just because of that requirement

How has attrition been lately? Are they retaining people with the increased pay rates. Sounds like the FAs had a successful union push, are they trying to avoid this with the pilots?

At this level a union is imperative, no point in delaying the inevitable.

Interesting about an introduction meeting via zoom. So when you get invited do all that attend the meeting get an interview date?
