Like any non-pilot would come on this site to find out how airline pilots are doing. This is a place for us to vent and compare notes. The average Joe knows about the airlines receiving a bailout, but doesn't look deeply enough into it to find out pilot salaries, IMO.

I disagree with this assumption. I know for a fact that over the years this website has had many non pilots on it, some simply just interested in the industry. Heck, there have been moderators who aren't even pilots on this forum. I also know management has used this forum against pilots in lawsuits and I know the press has been on this forum asking for information throughout the years. You yourself even had a back and forth conversation with a college student who started a thread looking for information on this very forum.

The average Joe might know about the bailout but I am willing to bet they dont know the half of it, and the pay not to play agreements that are in place. Bottom line is once again there will be a group who wont show any tact in regards to the current environment and will insist on flexing like they do every year without even taking the pulse of the room.

So I’m supposed to just sit on min guarantee while everything around is burning?

No thanks. By working extra I was able to pay off my car and get debt free except for the house. Also put $20k in savings just in case things don’t turn around next year. At WN there’s plenty of work to go around if you’re willing and able. Some chose to sit at home, others like me go to work. If you can’t due to your airline, that’s not my problem. I could have went to UAL in 2016 and I’d be looking at a furlough or a 30 hr paycheck.

The point of the yearly pay thread is to compare compensation at every airline. Who worked the least and is paid the most? Who has the best work rules? Who’s management kept things stable during a crisis? Who was furloughed and who wasn’t? Think it’s tacky? Nobody has a gun to your head and is forcing you to read it. Move along, Karen.

Not fake news at all. I could’ve been in a early/mid 2016 class at UAL. Buddy hired at the same time has been a EWR 757 CA for awhile. He’ll send me paystub photos with a caption, “see what you’re missing?”. If the UAL deal tanks he’s on the street. I sent him a photo of my Oct schedule and said, “see what you’re missing?”.

I won’t be the highest paid, but at least I’ll still be getting paid (for the rest of this year anyway). 🤷🏼‍♂️

Ouch...that's gonna leave a mark. I can see taking taxpayer dollars for the last 6 months with a hope for a quick turnaround and at least give people time to plan but most estimates put a decent recovery at least 2 years away. I have plenty of friends and family outside the industry and some out of work and justifying a long term every 6 months repeating bailout is a tough sell.

Right.....but the REASON for the thread has always been CLAIMED to be for applicants to educate themselves about where to apply. Nobody is getting hired this year except cargo and 32 dudes at CommutAir. The only remaining reason to post is still for Johnson measuring.
