Hoping to be on the top end of this thread someday.
WGN MD11 FO
Year 2 pay earlier in the year, most of the year at 3 year pay.
Gross numbers:
Pay: $84,800
Bonuses: $25,900 (had 3 bonuses this year, in 2020 I will probably only get one for $4,300 or so.)
Per Diem: $8,600 (normally this is around $11,000, but we had a summer slowdown and I didn't fly much.) Yes, I know it isn't taxable income but some people like to know.
401k company contrib: $2100 (I max it out)
Total Taxable: $112,700
Some FOs that are OT *****s hit 125-130 taxable, that's not me.
The brightest spot was I didn't work much. We get paid by the day and are home based, no business class though. Worked around 150 days on the road (all overnights), paid for about 215. Flew around 210 hours including IRO and ACM time. We can't cash out our vacation or carry over much so I used most of that also.
Mainline schedule, weak pay though.
Hoping 2020 is more fruitful. Cheers.

Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate the help. Its a big decision and it hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows getting the certificates and hours so far. I know have a lot more to do.....just want to make sure the juice is worth the squeeze and real numbers from threads like this help.
I didn’t pursue the profession for money and lived through the Lost Decade. You’ll love the lifestyle and job (most of the time). Just remember that no matter how good it is you’ll always be expected to b!tch about it.

I didn’t silence.
The dude says he works a few days a month and has a second job.. and his information isn’t good? And he’s “tooting” his horn? Interesting. I read this thread every year. What information is gained? Literally nothing. Some dudes make a lot. Some make a little. Some work a lot some work nothing. No one told the fire fighter that his info was bogus? Why not?

I very much disagree.
Pay rates are public knowledge and readily available. How they can be manipulated and what real life numbers are, are not. I find the information posted about major airline jobs to be incredible useful and relevant. It could help potential applicants, those in the pipeline, and IMO most importantly, those currently at other major airlines trying to understand their own contracts and how to vote.
I could not care less about some random dude’s side business.
And when the same dude gives zero information about what it is, how much time is spent on it, or the level of experience needed to do it, it’s even more useless. It’s just a dude flexing showing everyone he makes money. Congratulations!

Lol, come on man... don’t get worked up. Everyone is here flexing.. hate to say it.
And yah this dude provided plenty of information. That he made plenty of money while working 9 days at a regional airline as an FO while collecting money from other investments.(probably paying significantly less in taxes) To mean it sounds pretty straight forward and he seems to have a better formula to making money than you and I. So if you feel this thread is useful that’s cool. But it’s still just a flexing contest. Everyone knows who makes the most and who makes the least. Would it matter if the dude worked as a nanny 1 day a week? Nope not one bit.
So why is he the only one flexing his muscles?
