It's a tough decision for sure. I know when I'm not flying the last thing I want to do is work another job. Flying is tiring and going back to work tired sucks.
I say get on the part 135 and see if you like it. If you do go all in and advance as quickly as you can. In this gig seniority mean almost everything. Run a budget and see if you can manage on the first couple yrs at a regional.
A pension is nice but in 7 yrs in the airlines and advancing as quickly as you can you'll make up for the loss of pension.
Also make sure the wife is on board 100%. If shes not a divorce will suck all the money and life out of you and you're new career.
Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate the help. Its a big decision and it hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows getting the certificates and hours so far. I know have a lot more to do.....just want to make sure the juice is worth the squeeze and real numbers from threads like this help.

I picked up One open time trip (three days) and had the entire month after training off prior to starting OE half way through the next month. I also drive to work and get reimbursed rather than DH. Play game, win a little.

Worked entirely too much. 6-12 days off a month. Although I took the entire month of October off.

Flew 700 hours and grossed 94k.
You sir earned more than our 3rd year 767 FOs. Well done, and shame on us!

Actual quote is “never spend more than 15 nights on Road”. And yes you are right 15 is max with 20 day work limit. Think I have only done it once or twice at UAL. This year I will track nights away.
Thx.

I love and applaud the entrepreneurial spirit, however, in the context of this thread, this data means nothing if we don't know how much time you dedicated to it.
