He seemed to take issue with that possibility and seems to take the stance that the federal government won't devise a tax to replace gas taxes so EVs pay for road maintenance and electricity won't rise in price even with a rise in demand like we have never seen before in such a short time. I suppose it doesn't matter except that the current advantage in costs will probably evaporate over time. If electricity doubles in the next ten years (maybe maybe not) and federal taxes get added (almost a certainty) the cost to drive an EV will be near the cost to drive an efficient gas powered car. I am not sure why that is so controversial.

I never said gas is better, never said EV weren't much more efficient, and never said it costs more to fuel an EV. He just made it up.

Did you not read my whole post? I said, “states.” As in plural. There are more than one state south of the border. The post you quoted of mine had a video from a woman who is from Guatemala in which she doesn’t talk about one country. Did you even watch it? You made an assumption and you were wrong.

okay, so you are blaming all Hispanics from south of the border?

Do you want to argue and arbitrarily thrown out the words Mexico and “Hispanics” or do you want to have a conversation. It seems pretty obvious from your comments that you had a preconceived notion in your head when you originally replied. Did you even watch the video?

Like I said, this isn’t a new phenomenon. It’s been going on for decades. And it is the main reason why states in the west are turning faster than others.

You are confusing the distance with the price. The efficiency advantage of electric allows for more range for that gallon but the gallon costs more. Nowhere in that quote did I say it costs 3X more to fuel an EV than a gas vehicle.

You are thick.
Let me say this again please just stop while you are behind.

No confusion here as yours example has nothing to do with anything other than what is in your mind. But when you try and frame it as a "gallon" of electricity costs 3 times more than a gallon of gas then I call your B.S. Because to those who don't know how much it cost to charge an EV they might use that number and come up with some absurd basis to say that at 26.787 cents per kWh the equivalent cost per gallon would be $8.83.

Also stop using gallon of electricity as there is no such thing.

You should have just done it by weight or atomic symbols. Both have as much bearing on reality.

Here let me try:

The fact that electricity has no weight yet a gallon of gas weights about 6.3 pound. It would take an infinite amount of gas to and still never match the amount of energy that electricity provides based on weight. Ergo electricity is infinitely cheaper when based on weight.

This is just as factual accurate but non sensical as your example. Even the conclusion I drew was correct but totally useless in real life.

BTW did you know it takes about 5 kWh of electricity to make one gallon of gas? I bring this up just in case you want to try and come up with some other useless ways to run some numbers.

Your example showed none of that. As the equivalent kWh to a gallon of gas has absolutely no correlation between the two other than what is in your mind.

All it is that you showed was the basic conversion of the potential energy of a gallon of gas. Then you put numbers that have no realistic value in the real world.

Here is the equivalent horsepower to a gallon of gas: 44.79hp

If you can find a way to put a cost per horsepower you could come up with an equally useless number.

How about the equivalent BTU to a gallon of gas: 114,000 BTU

Another factually accurate way to measure the potential energy of gas but has about the same here and now relevance as your example.

You can try to back pedal all you want, but when you blame the political landscape turning blue on “migrants from south of the border” everyone knows you are blaming brown people. It’s actually kind of pathetic that you are saying it and then acting like that’s not what you said.

Don’t get me wrong, I believe good fences make good neighbors, we should finish the wall, and deport people who immigrate illegally.

But your explanation is both wrong and racist.

The political landscape is turning blue because of Americans flirting with socialism. Bernie Sanders was the only Democratic candidate in 2016 who wanted “free” everything. Four years later and all of the Democratic candidates were for “free” everything and higher taxes.

Bernie Sanders actually won the election because he turned the Democrats into full on Socialists and if we are stereotyping, it was the white suburban college grad liberals who voted for it.

Its not like the Democrats have a lock on the south of the border immigrant vote. Cubans in south Florida or Mexicans out west do vote for the other side for a variety of reasons. Abortion being a big one of them. It’s about 50/50 from the folks I know.

California must be broke.
They sent me a automobile registration bill from 1994 and wanted my auto registration paid up in full for every year since 1994. Moved out of state in 1995. 1994 was the last year I had to register the vehicle there. In 2000 the vehicle was totaled in the state of Texas when I loaned the vehicle to a friend of mine. CA wanted "proof" of some sort that vehicle "totaled." I was confused...the act of moving out of state and registering vehicle in another state should be more important than the wreck. Then I found out why....They wanted to charge me for the years 1995 to 2000. Played "fun n games in the mail." until they got tired or bored. Then, I re-initiated contact with them asking for an official letter from CA informing me that they had officially dropped the matter. Funny, they wanted a copy of the accident report. I replied "i was not in an accident, someone else was, that is the person to whom you need to get the accident report from." Those idiots...

Don't go on defense... Go on offense.
