Wait I’m confused. You wanted to be riddled on why EVs don’t pay their fair share, and when they do pay their share, it’s disappointing?
Half of all states in the US have EV registration fees and Texas wants to also a $200 fee on them too. That coincides with Georgia, who has the highest registration fee on EVs.

I’m not disappointed, I just said figures (as in they don’t take it from gas tax, but apparently take it in much higher registration/annual fees).
CA sucks

Riddle me this, how is it that I pay my share for transportation improvements driving a regular ICE car using the roads, whereas Tesla drivers do not? Pretty sure our car tire rubber wears down over time and cause the same kind of impact to roads. So I subsidize electric car road use?

It's only green during its usable lifespan. The mining of the minerals and the disposal of the batteries are not green at all.

The interesting thing about road upkeep and damage is that the heavier a vehicle is the more damage it causes and this goes up exponentially with weight. If you took the semi trucks and heavier vehicles off the roads lifespan and maintenance costs would improve dramatically. The guy driving the ¾ ton pickup should probably be paying at least 4 times what a guy driving a Honda Accord pays.

That why it exists in your mind only. In reality the majority of the "minerals" are mined with no difference than those going into a an ICE car. Lithium makes up less than 1% of the battery pack and is mined the same way as a lot of other minerals are mined. The other components mimic ICE cars with steel or aluminum for body and frame, copper for the myriad of wires, plastics for the interior and harnesses. There is very little difference in the actual makeup of the car other than the propulsion and fuel used and that is where the green comes from. Because unless you are comparing an electric car to walking then there is practically no difference in how the materials are mined when comparing them to other ICE cars.

No. Gas taxes include road infrastructure MX fees. Electricity does not (it does include fees to maintain the grid, but you don't drive on the grid).
They should.
That would make sense. Since you would think poor people generally drive smaller cars, I'm surprised they haven't already done that. Or maybe it's already baked into the formula?

I also don't see many EV people saying they shouldn't pay for their use on the roads but to pay a higher amount than what is collected by the gas tax is just a cash grab by greedy politicians.

Take the comparison of when we first transitioned from wood to steel as a building material. Did you see a ton of metal recycling centers when that happened? No, but eventually there was enough product out their that needs recycling to open the scrap yards and now they dot the landscape all over the country.
We are just now seeing a large amount of car battery packs enter into the marketplace and since most have a lifespan of 20+ years we just aren't going to see a lot of recycling centers yet. But since it cost 70% less to recover the metals in a battery than it does to mine, ship and process them we can be assured that they will be recycled when the time comes.
