Well, 3.5 years at a regional before upgrade was available. Upgraded and flew captain for about 6 months. Left to fly the 727 panel at a major cargo airline. Hired by UAL two years later with 5000 total and 400 turbine pic. I have been a copilot here for almost 10 years since then. I did recently bite the bullet and bid 737 captain. I go to class next month. The lifestyle change is going to suck, but one has to be prepared for ANYTHING in this business. And since I cannot even apply at SWA, FedEx, or UPS, I decided to pull the trigger.

DitchDog,
Actually it is not a rumor. The HRO folks told us SWA was considering this when they stopped by our Higher Power course back in January. I have not heard if it is policy yet, but I know for a fact it is not rumor. Sorry I wrote it like that. It was a poor choice of words and my bad.....sorry.
Best of luck to you.

I "updated" my stuff the other day. And I received an email from them about how my name has landed again at Southwest Airlines. And to make sure I keep it updated within the next 6 months? It has been six months since I tried.

Can anyone tell me why 11,500 TT 1400 turbine PIC 6000 Jet isn't competitive enough at SWA? Would a type be worth the risk? How can I verify that I haven't been internally black balled before I spend 7000 bucks on a type?

Can I ask why you think you are not competitive?

Sounds pretty competitive to me, although 1400 turbine PIC is just above their old 1300 PIC min. As long as you have the mins, I think it's really who you are as a person that makes the difference. With those hours you should at least get an interview.
