Published contractual pay rates don’t show how work rules get applied. Final annual numbers are the only true way to compare apples to apples. In an environment of pattern based bargaining, the benefits of this type of thread seem glaringly obvious.

They also don't show the "when times are good" extra income that can be scrounged up with draft, greenslips, having your trip bought for training, etc. Right now most airlines are in a growth and hiring mode, so its worth taking a look at how much of the income came from hours outside the normal realm. In my case it was a big factor. There is no way I'd tell somebody to "expect" 250 extra hours. Nice when it happens, but like the gambling we tend to remember our wins and forget our bad years. This thread gives a bit of perspective as to what some good (and in some cases not so good) environments can generate.

When shared with peers it helps for future negotiations. You don’t know what you don’t know.
