defend the actions of 9-11 hijackers, unbelievable.
It is unbelievable and that's because I never defended their actions. I don't know where your post/background came from but you are wrong on the assumptions you made. 25 years here now and I moved at a very young age. I entered 121 in 2007 so didn't suffer from the 9/11 fallout, just the Age 65 and 2008-2010 recession. Even then I had a job and wasn't furloughed, which made me thankful for what I had.

The more I read shy guys remarks, the more I come to believe that he doesn't belong in a flight deck of any airliner. The last thing any Muslim should do is defend the actions of 9-11 hijackers, unbelievable. Like I said in another thread, I think Shyguy is new to the USA. I can't believe some of the things he posts and he acts like a smart a$$ when he does it. Unbelievable on many levels.
Shy was just pointing out what had been well documented that the 9-11 attack was the "force majeure" event that allowed the airlines to quickly and radically reshape their businesses to deal with the rapidly declining air travel market along with many airlines chasing the same passengers causing very low yields across the industry that was ripe for consolidation.
Fact Delta (as others I suspect) had ceased hiring in aug 2001 prior to 9-11 despite hiring 100/month for several years prior.
All of the attacked 9-11 wide body aircraft had a sum total of 250 or so total crew /pax onboard for coast-coast flights. That means close to 25% load factors (absolutely unheard of today).
Could oil spike today (Iran shutting down Hormuz straights for example)? Could the economy suddenly crater (intense trade wars do this historically)? Could war break out that radically makes leaving the US unsafe? Any of this kind of activity would radically change the "time to captain". Pick a company with little to no commute and hold on!

Yeah?! SO WHAT? It's radical Islam that was so instrumental in tanking this industry for a decade and costing almost 3,000 innocent lives on 9/11.

How many innocent lives has it taken and ruined since then by way of suicide attacks?

Are you butt hurt?! Guess who doesn't give a flying ****? ME! Deal with it....

I promise you that I'm more incensed than you are offended.

Understand. We got hit with surprise medical issues (kids) and of course no upgrade in 7 years.

why do you guys think Delta has some 4 month captains and plenty of captains below the 2 year mark, and United sounds like it's 8-10 years to become captain?

I've heard senior Delta guys would just rather be senior wide body FO rather than narrow body captain...however United has so many more wide bodies you would think that captain would go just as junior there.

If you say the reason is the 717/88...I understand that is part of it; however just recently NYC 320A went very junior for Delta as well (about 2 years if I'm correct). So why would United EWR 320 be so much more senior?

A lot of senior widebody FO's don't want to walk away from the easy life at the "other Delta."

The reason the 320A went junior is that a lot of FO's pulled the trigger on their first upgrade (717/88) less than 2 years ago and are still serving out their 2-yr sentence of hard labor (myself included.)

I can't help but think that this latest MOAB's was at least partly designed to extend seat locks.
