I'm amazed that this subject keeps resurfacing. How many times does one need to be told that they are at an almost insurmountable disadvantage without a 4 year degree? Dumb and dumber.
You guys are ridiculous, really. A guy comes on here and asks if anyone is getting hired without a degree and instead of anyone answering the question he's met with a bunch of childish insults.

To the O.P. it appears that pretty much all of the regionals and most of the are LCC's are hiring guys without a degree.
From what I've heard, Southwest has hired a handful of guys without a degree but that is rare. The same could be said for United.
I think its fair to say that you'd have a snowball in hells chance of getting hired at Delta without a degree though.

As most people have rightly stated on here, if the legacies are your ultimate goal a degree is pretty much a necessity. Maybe that will change in the future but that's pure speculation.

However, if you're happy seeing out your career at an LCC or a even a regional, a degree is not necessarily a requirement.

Why yes, yes I do. The Military industrial complex manufactures wars then tries to justify them by brainwashing the masses into believing that they're fighting for 'freedom' or some other garbage like that. The clusterf*ck in the middle east is a direct result of crooked politicians and greedy defense contractors. Taking your tax dollars, while bombing some civilians in the desert, creating more terrorists. $7 trillion could have rebuilt this country.

Student debt is over $1 trillion dollars and that's trillion with a T.

As it stands if the inflation line is 2-3% annually, college cost increases YOY have gone up exponentially higher than that. The government long ago should have told any college that takes students with federal loans (pretty much all of them) that the govt would only put up money if tuition increases matched inflation rates (and no higher) on a YOY basis. As it stands, the college system today is a complete scam.

And yes I have a 4-yr degree but the point still stands.

Das auto - his question was answered in the second and third post.

To complain on page 16 seems ridiculous to me.

Childish, needless condescending remarks seem rediculous to me my friend. If you think otherwise by all means carry on.

Keep up the forum tradition of 1% substance, 99% nonsense.

We should embrace the degree requirement for the fact that it prevents oversupply and maintains our "professional" facade. Lowering the bar is penny wise but dollar dumb.

Now I am all for this on a personal level. I think it's great they make hard to be a pilot. I wish they would make it harder. Start requiring a masters. It just means more money for me. Supply and demand.

But I argue the whole college degree thing from an industry standpoint not a personal greed one.

I used to fly with a guy who had a Doctorate in Ceramic Engineering. You can imagine the wise cracks he endured.
