Wrong. Anything the government has it stole from someone else.

And if the government let people keep more of their money then there would be more charity available. Not to mention that if the workers were allowed to invest their money instead of fund the social insecurity ponzi scheme, most that are broke would not be broke.

You failed to mention the cost of your genius plan. Some people simply can't afford to pay for a college degree and their flight training, and are forced to choose one or the other accumulating huge amounts debt in the process. Especially with kids, mortgage, medical bills etc.

A college degree isn't necessarily a free chore that lazy people avoid because they can't be bothered to "get off their ass" as you so eloquently put it.
Well said. I would love to get it but those points you made have rung true. I'm - Far - from lazy. Circumstances happen in life that others have no clue about or haven't even considered because their perspectives are different. That's why you need to do your best on your app to explain your life and let them get to know your story. I am certainly a proponent of education and certainly intend to finish my degree (Associates level now) when I can afford it. It really makes me upset when people generalize everyone who has less than them and assume the worst for what they have no idea about. The best advice is to continue to do your best and continue to work hard with the best intentions. I hope other will enjoy the day today and avoid cutting others down from their decisions based on things they don't even know.

The system has been increasingly relying on borrowed money since 1981. The taxpayer is merely servicing the interest anymore. In this environment, why is it OK for bankers to have it all. They are the ones that are inflating every asset imaginable while holding wages down by offshoring jobs. I guess we all have to be better than someone so the poor must starve.

Excuses are like arseholes. They stink.

Want a Legacy job? Get the damn degree. It's been like that for decades, and it's not going away anytime soon.

"I'm too busy" or "it's too expensive" or "I just don't have time" are nothing more than rationalizations weak people put in their heads to justify their lack of upward movement.

Plenty of Legacy pilots out there with BS degrees from online universities, obtained while on layovers in East Frogballs, Arkansas. So no excuses whatsoever.

You want the Legacy job? Gotta get the degree.

Period.

And while on the topic, why the hell would you suggest someone buy a Breitling after passing their PPL? Or a BMW after the CFI? Do those somehow increase the odds of getting a call from United or Delta? How does your advice parlay at all into the requirement of having a degree?

I mean, there's dumb advice on this board left and right, but that's just stoopid.
Very inspirational story. I'm sure you'd get an awesome grade for that essay. Good job.

(Hint, more sarcasm.)

I think we can distinguish those who have a degree from those that don't.

Or can we?

LMFAO!

People wouldn't give more money if they got to keep more. In fact, as a percentage of income, poor people donate way more than wealthy. Letting them keep more isn't going to mean more charity. In fact, it means the opposite.

Additionally, the government doesn't steal anything...unless you consider the US military a stolen good.

That's true, and I'm sure the H.R. department in charge of weeding out nice guys from "Delta Bravos" will have a great time when they interview you. Unless you have a degree in acting that is.
