Introducing the men and women that make Virgin America. Here you can meet the Virgin America management team, the Board of Directors, and the team members that are all working hard to bring you a better way to travel.
Mr. Carty is the Chairman of the Board of Virgin America. He also serves as the Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of Dell. From 1998 to 2003, Mr. Carty served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of AMR Corporation, the parent company of American Airlines, Inc. He also previously served as President of AMR Airline Group and American Airlines, Inc. Prior to that he held various other executive positions, including Chief Financial Officer, at AMR and its subsidiaries. Mr. Carty is currently a director of Sears Holding Corporation, Barrick Gold Corporation, CHC Helicopter Corporation, Hawaiian Holdings, Inc. and Gluskin Sheff + Associates.
Sam Skinner - Vice Chairman (U.S. citizen)
Former Secretary Skinner serves on several U.S. corporate boards, previously served as President of Commonwealth Edison and Unicom (now Exelon Corp.) as Chairman, CEO, and President of U.S. Freightways Corporation, and as a former United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois. He was a principal author of several landmark airline citizenship cases, and an early architect of the Department's "cities program" and "open skies" policy.
Mark Lanigan (U.S. citizen)
Mark Lanigan is a Managing Director of Black Canyon. Prior to founding Black Canyon,
Mr. Lanigan was the Co-Head of the Los Angeles Investment Banking Department of Credit Suisse First Boston and a member of the Investment Banking Executive Board. Prior to CSFB, Mr. Lanigan was the Head of the Los Angeles office of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. Mr. Lanigan started his investment banking career in the Beverly Hills office of Drexel Burnham Lambert.
Throughout his investment banking career, Mr. Lanigan provided corporate finance and
advisory services to a broad range of industries, with an emphasis on negotiating, structuring and financing leveraged acquisitions, recapitalizations, restructurings and mergers on behalf of private equity firms and their portfolio companies. Mr. Lanigan graduated summa cum laude with a major in Economics from Colgate University, received his J.D. degree from Harvard Law School and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Paras Mehta (U.S. citizen)
Paras Mehta is a Principal of Black Canyon. Prior to joining Black Canyon, Mr. Mehta served as a Vice President in the Investment Banking Division at Credit Suisse First Boston. In that capacity, Mr. Mehta executed leveraged finance, M&A and other corporate transactions in the media & telecommunications, gaming & lodging, technology, energy and industrial services sectors. Mr. Mehta received a B.A. summa cum laude in Mathematics from Harvard University and a master’s degree in Philosophy from Oxford University, where he was a Marshall Scholar, and was a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Robert Nisi (U.S. citizen)
Mr. Nisi is a partner and the Chief Operating Officer of Cyrus Capital Partners, L.P., where he also acts as General Counsel and Head of Corporate Risk Management. He began his investment management career at the Securities and Exchange Commission as an enforcement attorney, and later practiced law with the NY law firms of Kramer Levin and White & Case. Mr. Nisi has been Assistant General Counsel to Prudential Insurance Company and Salomon Smith Barney, and was General Counsel to MacKay Shields until he joined Cyrus in 2005. He holds a J.D. and M.B.A. in Finance from Boston University
Cyrus Freidheim (U.S. citizen)
Mr. Freidheim currently serves as the President and CEO of Sun-Times Media Group, Inc. Mr. Freidheim has served as a member of the Company's Board of Directors since October 2005. Mr. Freidheim was Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Chiquita Brands International Inc., a major producer, marketer and distributor of fresh produce. From 1990 to 2002, Mr. Freidheim was Vice Chairman of Booz Allen Hamilton, a management consulting firm, having joined the firm in 1966. Mr. Freidheim received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, an M.B.A. from Carnegie Mellon University. He currently serves on the Boards of Allegheny Energy and HSBC Financial Corp.
Frederick W. Reid (U.S. citizen)(non-voting)
Mr. Reid has more than 20 years of airline industry experience with Delta Air Lines (President/COO and Chief Marketing Officer 1998-2001), Lufthansa German Airlines (President and COO 1996-98, Executive Vice President Commercial 1994-96, and Senior Vice President - The Americas 1994-96), American Airlines (1987-91), and Pan American World Airways (1976-1987). He holds a B.A. from the University of California - Berkeley.
Stephen T. Murphy (U.K. citizen)
Mr. Murphy is the Chief Executive Officer of Virgin Group Holdings Investments Limited, ultimate parent company of Virgin's worldwide interests. Mr Murphy joined Virgin in 1994 as Group Finance Director and his responsibilities have included numerous directorships and senior roles. He became CEO of Virgin Management Limited in July 2004 and then Group CEO in September 2005. Prior to joining Virgin Mr Murphy held senior finance positions in other multinational companies including Unilever, Mars Corp and The Quaker Oats Company. He is a Chartered Management Accountant and holds a B.A. (Hons) in Economics and Accounting from Liverpool University.
Frances Farrow (U.K. citizen)
Ms. Farrow is Chief Executive Officer of Virgin USA, Inc. and previously held senior management positions at Virgin Atlantic Airways, where she remains a director. She previously practiced as a solicitor in England and Wales and holds a LL.B. from the University of Wales.
Jonathan Peachey (U.K. citizen)
Jon is Vice President of Corporate Development of Virgin USA, Inc. and is a former accountant. He is qualified as an Associate Chartered Accountant through the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and previously worked for Price Waterhouse Coopers in London. Until February 2006, he served as the Investment Director for Virgin Management Limited.

Baaaaarrrrffffhhh! Well, now that I feel better....Yeah! All have left their exec. positions to work for VA because they cashed out their bonuses at the expense of the employee groups and VA is looking for a naive group of employees to do the same thing and VA knows it!
They are looking for "virgins" for sure! Who in their right mind would sign up for that abuse? Sad to say that there will be a few that will take a bite of the apple only to find it poisioned. How sad. For those that sign up for this, bring your own barf bag, you'll need it!
