Meet VA

I agree; he was a competent exec. Hopefully, VA will not now choose Don Carty.
If your're referring to Fred "never met an RJ he didn't like" Reid you must be joking. He was horrible for Delta as was the rest of the Leo gang. He decimated the mainline product, helped take the "best positioned" post 9/11 carrier and nearly bring them to liquidation. VA is getting someone who is only concerned with himself and in no way cares about furthering the company or industry. The product may be good but to finance it with substandard wages while convincing employees that they are on a radical crusade is disgraceful. And to everyone who is looking to build time with them think twice. For every jet they get, another jet for the mainline carrier you might want to fly with could disappear.
One of the reasons the mainline carriers took the massive paycuts is because JetBlue, AirTran, etc. flew at substandard payrates. The only way to compete against a lopsided playing field was to level it. DAL 737 captains went from $270/hr to $150. Now VA and Skybus want to pay A320 captains $65-80k a year. Nice. Anyone who accepts a position there is cheapening themselves and the industry. Stay at the regionals and make more money flying an RJ than an A320.

Fred Reid is still a better choice than 'Con' Carty; he's a disgrace to this industry.
